"Announced" is overstating it. Early in the process, Margaret said something in a post or interview that suggested she was thinking about it as multiple MMPBs, but that was well before there was anything formal to announce. Sometimes, some editors will let things slip in public about tentative ideas, and fans tend to mistake those passing, preliminary thoughts for definite plans and therefore believe that there's been some kind of reversal when the more evolved plans turn out to be something different.
