Cronnenberg? Again? His version he made in the 1980s with Goldblum was pitch-perfect. He wouldn't do the sequel (which had potential, but just wasn't the same without Cronnenberg's involvement), so why would he do a remake of a remake [that had a sequel] (of a movie that had two sequels).
I suppose one approach would be to make a period science fiction horror movie, close to the original film or the 1957 novella by George Langelaan. I wouldn't mind another film about a lone scientist who tragically screws around with science he doesn't understand, as opposed to another modern update with another evil corporation as a plot element.
Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be debunked.
