I recommend The Fall
for 2 hours of resplendent visuals and engrossing storytelling. It is sad, but ultimately very satisfying.
It may fall into the life-affirming category rather than feel good though.
If I'd spent my whole life learning how to play chess better than everyone else in the world, I could have been the world chess champion.
