Side note - why do we call it a "warp core"? What does it have to do with warping...anything? Its just a powerplant. A reactor.
Sadly, that's pretty much all there is to it. The "Warp Core" sounded dramatic and important, so that's what it was called. Why it stuck
, and why fans insist on every ship ever in Trek history (next they'll say the Space Shuttle having one) having a Warp Core is beyond me, though...
