Re: Bit roles before they were "famous"
Robert Duvall's first appearance was as Boo Radley in "To Kill a Mockingbird." He appears only at the end, but his off-screen character is referred to throughout the film (after all, Boo "is" the mockingbird the title analogizes to).
I also remember Duvall as an Evil Villain out to control the West on an episode of The Wild Wild West
('The Night of the Falcon', iinm, about 1967.)
As for literary criticism in general: I have long felt that any reviewer who expresses rage and loathing for a novel or a play or a poem is preposterous. He or she is like a person who has put on full armor and attacked a hot fudge sundae or a banana split. ~ Kurt Vonnegut, Jr.
