<ul><li><A class="link" HREF="">Star Trek: Online</A> is offering fans a beta slot in their closed beta, a special forum title and online publication of the winning fan entry in a new contest. Fans will "tell us about the planet" that is shown on the contest details page, where a red planet, surrounded by black rocks/asteroids and with a starship of some sort approaching orbit of the mysterious planet, is pictured. The contest entrants will have to write a short entry of up to five hundred words, which could be a story of the daily life on the planet, a scientific survey log, or any other type of tale that strikes the writer's fancy. <p><li>According to <A class="link" HREF="">Entertainment Earth</A> <i>Star Trek</i> fans can preorder <i>Star Trek</i> Mattel Hot Wheels models which will arrive in May. The models are 1:50 scale and based on the movies and the television shows. Ships to be included in this set: Enterprise NCC-1701 refit (<i>Star Trek: The Motion Picture</i>), Enterprise 1701-D (<i>Star Trek: The Next Generation</i>), Reliant NCC-1864 (<i>Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan</i>) and a Klingon Bird of Prey (<i>Star Trek: The Search for Spock</i>). <p><li><A class="link" HREF="">Comics Continuum</A> announced the IDW Publishing April 2009 <i>Star Trek</i> publications. <i>Star Trek: Countdown TPB</i>, written by <font color=yellow>Robert Orci</font>, <font color=yellow>Alex Kurtzman</font>, <font color=yellow>Tim Jones</font> and <font color=yellow>Mike Johnson</font>, with art and cover by <font color=yellow>David Messina</font>, offers fans the origins of Nero, the Romulan who will make trouble in <i>Star Trek XI</i>. <i>Star Trek: Countdown #4</i>, written by <font color=yellow>Tim Jones</font> and <font color=yellow>Mike Johnson</font> with art and cover by <font color=yellow>David Messina</font>, will conclude the origins of Nero as "the heroes of the Federation race against time to save the universe."<p><i>Star Trek: Alien Spotlight: Klingons</i>, written by <font color=yellow>Keith R.A. DeCandido</font>, with art by <font color=yellow>J.K. Woodward</font>, and the cover by <font color=yellow>David Williams</font>, will explain from where the saying "Four thousand throats may be cut in a single night by a running man" came. <p>Also appearing in April will be <i>Star Trek: Crew #2</i>, written, art and cover by <font color=yellow>John Byrne</font>; <i>Star Trek: Mission's End #2</i>, written by <font color=yellow>Ty Templeton</font>, art by <font color=yellow>Stephen Molnar</font> cover by <font color=yellow>Joe Corroney</font>; and <i>Star Trek Omnibus Volume 1</i>, which collects fifteen consecutive issues from the early Marvel Comics run.<p></ul><center></center>
