Mulgrew To Portray Diva
<font color=yellow>Kate Mulgrew</font> will play opera star <font color=yellow>Maria Callas</font> in <i>Master Class</i>, which opens in March.<p>As reported by <A class="link" HREF="http://www.theatermania.com">TheaterMania</A>, <i>Master Class</i> is set during a master class in which Callas, played by Mulgrew, instructs three young singers, during the course of which she recalls the story of her life, including her early days as an "ugly duckling," professional rivalry, an unforgiving press, and her stormy relationship with Greek shipping magnate <font color=yellow>Aristotle Onassis</font>.<p><i>Master Class</i> will run from March 4 through April 5th at the Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn, New Jersey. <i>Master Class</i> is produced by <font color=yellow>Terrence McNally</font>, with <font color=yellow>Wendy Goldberg</font> directing the play. <p>Mulgrew is currently starring at the Broadhurst Theatre in the play <i>Equus</i>, where she is playing Hester Salomon, a compassionate public official who begs a psychiatrist to take on the troubling case of a young man who blinds six horses. <i>Equus</i> runs through February 2009.<p>To read more, head to the article located <A class="link" HREF="http://www.theatermania.com/new-jersey/news/01-2009/kate-mulgrew-to-star-in-paper-mill-playhouses-mast_17001.html">here</A>.<center></center>

I had a feeling that the diva might be Callas when I saw the thread title. I remember the very good reviews of Master Class when it was first performed in 1995, and I think Mulgrew could be good in the role.
