The distinction between the first comic in the thread and this one reminds me why I don't like Penny Arcade.

The first one was cute but that made me laff like a Romulan hyena. :rommie:

And don't start telling me that Romulus has no indigenous hyenas. They imported them with the warp drive they weren't supposed to get till the 24th C.

Yeah, the PA one is funn"ier" than the OP one, but both are in the end great. But the PA one feels more "adult geek" as I could probably see myself doing something similar. And because Gabe is a hillarious Gaming Coming Staple "Nut."

There's nothing funny about the Penny Arcade strip. It's just mean.

No... Gabe is being mean. He's being a total asshole. He's going off on a huge alpha geek tirade about something inconsequential. It's making fun of him, and all those who would completely overreact and fly off the handle about something that really doesn't matter, like having a 0 in front of a registration number, NCC-0514 vrs NCC-514.

I suppose I don't really get that kind of humor.

Getting over-sensitive about geeky details is funny. Lashing out at someone who's just trying to be nice in the process moves one into the "asshole" category, and I don't find such people particularly funny.

Re: Full Frontal Nerdity for Halloween

The humor I saw in the PA comic was in a tweaking of the adult, the suppose dgrown-up who is so obsessive over matters that tend to concern kids. Granted, I tend to enjoy the other more, and not because I posted it.
