'Star Trek: Phase II' Releases New Teaser

A sneak peak of the forthcoming <i>Blood and Fire</i> episode of <i>Star Trek: Phase II</i>, was offered today when the beginning teaser of the episode became available for fans to download at the <i>Phase II</i> website.<p>As reported by <A class="link" HREF="http://www.startreknewvoyages.com/">Star Trek: Phase II</A>, a short video from the first part of <i>Blood and Fire</i> came online today. The preview was almost four minutes in length and featured a battle scene between the Enterprise and the Klingons.<p><i>Blood and Fire</i> was originally written by <font color=yellow>David Gerrold</font> (<i>The Trouble With Tribbles</i>) for <i>Star Trek: The Next Generation</i>. However, the script was deemed too controversial at the time to be produced for <i>The Next Generation</i> and was shelved.<p>The storyline concerns "a plague so horrible that Starfleet had issued standing orders not to attempt rescue of any infected ship but to destroy it immediately." Another controversial aspect of the time was the depiction of a gay couple. According to <i>Phase II</i> Producer <font color=yellow>James Cawley</font>, he had a condition for keeping the couple in the <i>Phase II</i> version. "If you're going to show them as a couple," he said, "it has to be real. There was one line in the 'Next Generation' episode, 'So, how long have you two been together?' and that was as much as there was in 1987. There's a lot more now." <p>According to <A class="link" HREF="http://www.TrekMovie.com">TrekMovie.com</A>, <i>Blood and Fire</i> Part I is due to be released by Halloween, with the second part to follow within several months. In 2009, <i>Phase II</i> will release <i>Enemy: Starfleet</i> which will feature a newly refitted Enterprise.<p><i>Phase II</i> is also offering a first look at the new refitted Enterprise to be seen in <i>Enemy: Starfleet</i> next year. Two photos of the newly refitted Enterprise can be seen <A class="link" HREF="http://www.startreknewvoyages.com/news20080827a.html">here</A>.<p>To read more, head to the articles located <A class="link" HREF="http://www.startreknewvoyages.com/forum/index.php?topic=5779.0">here</A> and <A class="link" HREF="http://trekmovie.com/2008/08/29/video-teaser-for-phase-ii-blood-and-fire/">here</A>.<center></center>

Not a bad looking trailer.

I admit, I haven't been following the news of Phase II very closely, but... wasn't Denise Crosby supposed to be in this episode?

Her picture still appears next to the synopsis of the episode of the website, but there's no longer any mention of her in the synopsis itself. And, unless I missed her, she wasn't in the trailers.

No mention of her in this article, either.

Did she drop out and I just missed it?

Denise Crosby has a significant on-screen role in the show.

I saw the rough cut of both episodes at DragonCon on Saturday. It was extremely impressive, and when finished may turn out to be the first really satisfying feature-length Trek fan film.

Damn it, Den. Way to kill interest in the movie for me.

I knew that was what they were saying early on. They just hadn't mentioned her recently, wasn't sure what was up.

It didn't really matter to me either way. I don't think she was necessary to the story. Was just curious.
