*SPOILER QUESTION* for Greater than the Sum

I've skimmed the book but haven't had the time to read it in depth.

Any guesses as to what will Picard and Crusher name their baby? I'm guessing Jack or Renee

I also just picked it up this week, and have to admit that I'm notorious for reading the last 5-6 paragraphs of a book before starting the whole book. I could see them going with Renee.

No reason it can't be both; we French love our compound names. :)

If it's a girl. If it's a boy, it would be Ren.

(I know which it is, but you'll have to wait to find that out.)

I had a feeling that was the correct spelling of his nephew's name, but decided to go with the original poster's spelling of it. For the record, I have a male cousin who's parents chose to spell his name Renee, so I don't assume anything when it comes to that spelling.

Has Beverly taken Picard's name, like she did in the AGT timeline?

I believe it said shortly into the book that they decided to have both keep their pre-marriage last names, mainly to avoid confusion (like the 'Captain Picard?' 'Yes?' moment in All Good Things...).

And after fifteen/sixteen years of their crewmates (and staff, in Crusher's case) referring to them in one way, likely their more comfortable with the names as they were.

If they are lucky they will have twins and can use both names. :).

I have a feeling though, that this baby will come at a very bad time. (During Destiny perhaps)

Umm, GTTS ends less than a month after the baby's conceived, and Destiny picks up not long afterward. Quick quiz: how many months does a human pregnancy usually last?

Very funny Chris. How would I know when Destiny takes place? GTTS( I have posted a very positive review in the review thread) took place months after Before Dishonor AFAIK.

Well, the big TO BE CONTINUED IN DESTINY sign at the end of GTTS shoulda been a clue...

Depends if the baby is born premature or not. My brother and sister (twins) were born about a month and a half premature so the nine month thing isn't set in stone.

Hey this is sci-fi anything can happen!

For all we know the baby gets assimilated in the womb, is born instantly in a 'John Hurt in Alien' manner, kills half the galaxy and is called Queeg.

Just saying. Of course, it can only happen if it makes a good story.

Re: *SPOILER QUESTION* for Greater than the Sum

^^Yeah, but have you ever heard of a viable human baby being born six or seven months premature?
