Pine Talks 'Star Trek XI'

<font color=yellow>J.J. Abram's</font> version of 'Star Trek' is about the 'birth" of the famous characters from the original series. <p>As reported by <A class="link" HREF="http://www.scifi.com/scifiwire">Sci Fi Wire</A>, <font color=yellow>Chris Pine</font> expects fans to be surprised by <i>Star Trek XI</i>. "I think people will be surprised," said Pine. "I think what J.J. has created, and what we've been a part of, is really the birth of these characters. ...Not only their individual journeys and how they all meet, [but also] the forging of those relationships and how it carries on to the five-year mission."<p>According to Pine, writers <font color=yellow>Alex Kurtzman</font> and <font color=yellow>Roberto Orci</font> "Infuse these characters with as much humanity as possible, so not only are you getting the big effects you would expect from a blockbuster, but also something of a character movie, which I think is difficult to do, and I think we've done extremely well."<p>Pine also feels that fans will be amazed by the performances of his co-stars. "People will be blown away," he said. "Zach [Quinto] is great. Between him and Karl Urban and the rest of the cast, ...they've really captured who these characters are." <p>As for the secrecy regarding the project, it's because "J.J [Abrams] is a perfectionist," said Pine, as reported by <A class="link" HREF="http://www.wpri.com/">WPRI.com</A>. Abrams understands the importance of the movie for the fans and wants to make sure that he "dots the I's and crosses the T's."<p>To read more, head to the articles located <A class="link" HREF="http://www.scifi.com/scifiwire/index.php?category=0&id=58172">here</A> and <A class="link" HREF="http://www.wpri.com/Global/story.asp?S=8758974&nav=F8nI">here</A>.<center></center>

When they delayed the launch, I was worried that buzz will die down by the time the film is going to come out.

On my own personal note, it's already happening for me. I've gone from mass excitment to "oh another Shatner on Pine, Nimoy on Spock, Pine on Trek XI'.

I can't be bothered to read anymore, and fear that any buzz will have bled out by then, and the entire script probably online by then too. It'll be old news.

For us, yeah, it's going to be a long slog from here to May. We've been yakking about the movie since Abrams was announced as the producer back in 2006. I wish they'd stuck with the Christmas release date (and judging by the Lindelof interview in the other article, they'd have made it anyway), but I'll still be in line for tickets when it opens.

But for the general public who Abrams is trying to draw in as well, this will all be new to them come 2009 when the advertising kicks into gear.

But for normal humans, they're still talking about Batman and will be for a while. Star Trek awareness has yet to begin.

I am a marketing professional. Admittedly not movies, but maybe my mind thinks in this way.

cb is right though... most people won't be that aware. I'm on a Trek site, it's not the average movie goer.

that is what I mean. only trek fans even know about the movie yet. Honestly, the average person doesn't need to know this movie exists until January or February.

I know it is a different situation. But Harry Potter just barely got a teaser trailer out...its first. And that movie comes out in 4 months..

It's a long way till May. Maybe J.J. Abrams can loosen his grip a little and throw us loyal Star Trek fans a bone. A little spoiler or two wouldn't kill him.
