Shatner Answers Fan Questions

Like many of his fans, <font color=yellow>William Shatner</font> wishes some of the technology of <i>Star Trek</i> was available today.<p>As reported by <A class="link" HREF="http://news.bbc.co.uk">The BBC</A>, Shatner would like a faster commute to work. When asked which <i>Star Trek</i> "toy" he would like to have today, he said, "I think having a transporter would beat the heavy traffic here in Los Angeles."<p>While some of the questions were serious, some were a bit on the frivolous side. When asked what made Kirk such an intergalactic stud and how the fan asking the question could replicate that success, Shatner said, "Unfortunately, you can't replicate his success. You need to have all my equipment."<p>Shatner felt that <i>Star Trek</i> was more than just a TV show, helping to break taboos and bring down boundaries. "Yes, I do think 'Star Trek' had influence in that area," he said. "It also apparently influenced a lot of people in making serious decisions about their lives."<p>Another fan asked if the womanizing, whiskey drinking and cigar smoking Denny Crane was William Shatner, Shatner answered that "All of William Shatner is there, plus there's much more untapped."<p>To read more, head to the article located <A class="link" HREF="http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/7482823.stm">here</A>.<center></center>

The transporter would be the single most useful system to have.

Trying to send a man to the moon? Use the transporter!

Want to visit the other side of the planet during your lunch break? No problem!

Want to steal vast quantities of gold from the national reserve? Success is just a click away!

Hmmm....nevermind, we'd just turn it into a weapon and make the world go boom. too bad, it could've been awesome. Like Shatner.

I'd like to have a Runabout with the Cloaking Device option. That would give me a place to live, computer, food replicator, phasers, shields, warp drive, and yes, a Transporter. Yep, that would be clean living! :bolian:

Recycle it in the replicator until you want it again!

No transporter for me! I'm with McCoy! (I think "you" has to die and a "new you" appears... something a little too freaky for me, even if the "new you" isn't really aware of the death of the original).

The runabout with a cloaking device sounds good!
