Pevney Passes
 
<font color=yellow>Joseph Pevney</font>, who directed over a dozen original series episodes, died at his home in Palm Desert, California.<p>As reported by <A class="link" HREF="http://www.legacy.com">Legacy.com</A>, the director of such original series classic such as <i>The City on the Edge of Forever</i>, <i>Amok Time</i> and <i>The Trouble with Tribbles</i> passed away on May 18, just a few years short of the century mark.<p>Pevney was born in New York City on September 15, 1911. He began his show business career as a boy soprano singer on the Vaudeville circuit in his hometown. He married his first wife, an actress-comedian and had four children, and moved to Hollywood, California to pursue his career.<p>In the 1930s and 40s, he acted in both stage plays and motion pictures. By the 1950s, he turned to directing movies. In the 1960s, he concentrated on directing television shows, including popular ones such as: <i>Wagon Train</i>, <i>Mission: Impossible</i>, <i>The Virginian</i>, <i>Bonanza</i>, <i>The Rockford Files</i>, <i>Fantasy Island</i> and <i>Star Trek</i>.<p>Pevney retired in the 1985. I like your optimism of "just a few years" short. :)

At 96, four years away is a VERY long time with the odds against you sadly.
