Bead Me Up, Scotty

<i>Mirror Universe</i>, a unique art show featuring artist <font color=yellow>Devorah Sperber's</font> beaded <i>Star Trek</i> art, opens this month at Caren Golden Fine Art gallery in New York.<p>As reported by <A class="link" HREF="http://blog.wired.com">Wired</A>, Sperber's unique take on the <i>Star Trek</i> world is created out of beads and spools of thread. <i>Mirror Universe</i> is an allusion to the <i>Star Trek Mirror, Mirror</i> episode from the original series.<p>"The concept and title for this exhibition gelled when I realized every Star Trek series had at least one episode based on the concept of a mirror or parallel universe, which fit in with my ongoing interest in the link between art and science, human perception and subjective reality," said Sperber. <p>A thirty-seven and a half by sixty-inch photo of Spock took one thousand, two hundred spools of thread to make. An image of <i>Star Trek: The Next Generation's</i> holodeck took nine thousand, six-hundred spools. An image of Captain Kirk using twenty-five thousands semi-translucent plastic beads strung onto monofilament is supposed to recreate the look of Kirk beaming up. <p>"The beaded figures are the most time-consuming works I have done to date," said Sperber. "In addition to laying out the beads in the correct order and stringing them onto monofilament, aligning the beads and attaching them to a hanging apparatus took weeks and weeks for each figure."<p>To read more and to see examples of the artwork, head to the article located <A class="link" HREF="http://blog.wired.com/underwire/2008/03/while-avinash-a.html">here</A>.<center></center>

"Star Trek series had at least one episode based on the concept of a mirror or parallel universe" I could be wrong which wouldn't surprise me but I don't remember star trek voyager or STNG having a mirror episode.

TNG had Parallels, which while not related to "the Mirror Universe", showed several alternate realities.

I'm blanking on a Voyager equivalent, though. "Deadlock" might qualify.

Yeah, the quality of the titles has really improved in creativity over the last half year or so. :bolian:

"Non Sequitur" is more of an alternate reality episode. There are several that dealt with similar concepts of what-might-have-been without actually being alternate universes, like every episode that ever unhappened, "Living Witness," and "Course: Oblivion."
