Pegg Finds 'Star Trek XI' Filming To Be Fun

The <i>Star Trek XI</i> set is filled with laughter in-between takes, according to <font color=yellow>Simon Pegg</font> (Scotty).<p>As reported at <A class="link" HREF="http://www.thesun.co.uk">The Sun</A>, Pegg reports that the filming is going well, with time to enjoy the experience.<p>"Filming's going very smoothly," said Pegg. "I had such a great time. Everyone is very funny. When the cameras roll the laughter has to stop but off set it was a scream. Zachary Quinto from Heroes is just a great laugh."<p>Pegg is enthusiastic about the role of Scotty. "Itís a dream role and amazing fun to be Scotty in Star Trek and see it all unfolding. I think it will be amazing," he said. He even mulled over the idea of being shot into space when his time comes. "James Doohan, who played the original Scotty was fired into space, so Iíll have to do that with my ashes too," he said. He would blast off to the sound of the Beatles, he added.<p>An actor originally considered for the part of Scotty will be in <i>Star Trek XI</i> with a cameo role. <font color=yellow>Paul McGillion</font> (<i>Stargate: Atlantis</i>) has a small part in <i>Star Trek XI</i>. Like anyone else associated with the film, he had to be guarded with his words. "It does feel huge," he said of working on <i>Star Trek XI</i>. And McGillion claimed that his cameo role would be amusing.<p>To read more, head to the links located <A class="link" HREF="http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showbiz/tv/article897749.ece">here</A> and <A class="link" HREF="http://www.wellandtribune.ca/ArticleDisplay.aspx?e=934713">here</A>.<center></center>

I think McGillion might've done better, personally, but I'm eager to see how Pegg handles the role.

Sounds like there are more laughs on the set than there were in the entirety of Pegg's recent film Run, Fatboy, Run...

I'm not sure what you mean by "might have done better". It is not his call as to what role he gets to play. He can only say "Yes" or "No" to whatever J.J. Abrams offers him. Personally, I think he would have made the perfect Scotty. And I'm looking forward to seeing more of him on Stargate Atlantis.

... I never said that it was. I was implying (through use of the word 'might') that had McGillion been provided the opportunity by J. J. Abrahms to take on the role, I feel he was a much better fit for Scotty than Pegg. Especially given the range displayed on Stargate: Atlantis.
