Leonard Rosenman Passes Away
 
Two-time Oscar-winning composer <font color=yellow>Leonard Rosenman</font> died Tuesday in Woodland Hills, California.<p>As reported by <A class="link" HREF="http://www.variety.com">Variety</A>, Rosenman died of a heart attack at the Motion Picture & Television Country House and Hospital, which is located in Woodland Hills, California.<p>Rosenman was the composer of the music for <i>Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home.</i>, for which he received an Oscar nomination. He also composed the scores for movies such as <i>Rebel Without a Cause</i> (<font color=yellow>James Dean</font>, <i>Fantastic Voyage</i> and <i>Beneath the Planet of the Apes</i>.<p>In 1975 and 1976, Rosenman won back-to-back Oscars for his work on <i>Barry Lyndon</i> and <i>Bound for Glory</i>. His work on <i>Cross Creek</i> garnered an Oscar nomination, as well as his <i>Star Trek</i> work.<p>He was also active in scoring music for television, and for writing music for the concert stage, which included chamber works, two violin concertos and a symphony.<p>Rosenman was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. He was 83 (b. Sept. 7, 1924) at the time of his death, which the article failed to mention :(. Not a bad run. He did nice work and will be missed.

Oh, and BTW, the advanced reply page is centering the content instead of rendering it left-justified. Now I get a horizontal scrollbar and need to use it to enter text or even to see anything to the right of the textbox. Someone needs to fix the CSS. But forgetting about the centerting, the page is just waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too wide.

Mine, too. Even though I really liked James Horner's musical take on Trek in STII, Rosenman's score was refreshingly different for Trek, and I loved the main theme, especially -- stirring, adventurous, and yet fun.
