Singularity or Bust

http://singularityorbust.com/

Free movie available online, follows two of the major players n AI in 2009. Though the release is late and some of the info out of date it's still an interesting look into the minds of people at the forefront of making the Singularity happen.

Quote:

In 2009, film-maker and former AI programmer Raj Dye spent his summer following futurist AI researchers Ben Goertzel and Hugo DeGaris around Hong Kong and Xiamen, documenting their doings and gathering their perspectives. The result, after some work by crack film editor Alex MacKenzie, was the 45 minute documentary Singularity or Bust ó a uniquely edgy, experimental Singularitarian road movie, featuring perhaps the most philosophical three-foot-tall humanoid robot ever, a glance at the fast-growing Chinese research scene in the late aughts, and even a bit of a real-life love story. The film was screened in theaters around the world, and won the Best Documentary award at the 2013 LA Cinema Festival of Hollywood and the LA Lift Off Festival. And now it is online, free of charge, for your delectation.
Singularity or Bust is a true story pertaining to events occurring in the year 2009. It captures a fascinating slice of reality, but bear in mind that things move fast these days. For more recent updates on Goertzel and DeGarisís quest for transhuman AI, youíll have to consult the Internet, or your imagination.

I don't think we exist right now. We were destroyed billions of years ago when the first wave of alien von Neumman machines came our way and sterilised Earth. Earth doesn't exist any more either. Not long after the nanobots came, it was transformed bit by bit into a part of the galactic megagrid they were building for their matryoshka brain, which is now running an integalactic version of Farmville.

We never existed, there is only will and the superman. Or a stupid long eared monkey and an annoying robot, but will is definitely involved. Not sure if there's something kinky going on with the sisters, I'm hoping.

The moment a truly self-aware AI blinks awake, there'll be another Carrington event to wipe it out.

Not necessarily, electronics can be fairly easily shielded from such events if planned for ahead of time.

Well, it's always possible that this or another variation on this is happening, but until we can prove otherwise I'm going to consider any such event as not having happened yet, OR we haven't done it yet to anyone else.
