Alexandra Luthor? Lex female in movie

I have seen this mentioned on a number of fan sites. That in the Man of Steel sequel "Lex" is short for Alexandra!Amazing departure from tradition but this is a reboot from the Donner films. So they can really do what they want.

Casting suggestions? Its going to have to be an actress willing to shave her head.

There is no way even Goyer would write a female Lex. Lex stands for Alexander. I could maybe see a sister, but I don't see any situation where we'll ever see a female version of Lex in a major motion picture (or even TV show).

In the Silver Age (and, also post Infinite Crisis until "The New 52), Lena was Lex's sister in the comics. In the late 90's/early 2000's it was the name of Luthor's daughter.

This is the most bizarre topic I've seen on this forum in a while. :wtf::guffaw:

I am thinking Natalie Portman. She looked great in V for Vendetta. Yes, she is in the Thor films for Marvel. But they cast a former Daredevil as Batman.

Now the question is will she need to be shaved? Lex had hair in the comics originally. I like a woman who is shaved. ;)

"Lex" is not, nor has it ever been, gender specific.

Well, I've never heard of a woman named Lex, but whatever. I was saying that no one would write a female Lex Luthor, not that the actual name Lex couldn't be used for a woman (although, again, I've never heard of a woman who goes by Lex, it just seems weird).

In Superman Earth One V2, there's Dr. Alexandra Luthor and her husband Dr. Lex Luthor. They're hired by the Defense Department to, theoretically of course, figure out how to kill Superman.

ETA: They both have hair.

Luthor had hair. By the time they started calling him Lex Luthor he was bald.

"Lexi" is a ubiquitous truncation of the famine variations of Alex-. It is also fairly common for those close to her (siblings, best friends, etc.) to further shorten to just Lex.

Though, what I want to know is, why would no one ever write a female Lex Luthor just because you say so?

Re: Alexandra Luthor? Lex female in movie

So, you really think they'll write a female Lex Luthor in a mainstream movie or TV show? I know they like to mix stuff up, but Lex is way too much of a classic villain. There isn't that much gender swapping for big characters like that. Just like how we'll never get an Iron Woman movie from Marvel or see Batman fighting a female Joker in a movie, we won't see a female Lex Luthor. Now, there are analogs to a female Joker (like harley Quinn, although I think she's fairly different compared to him) and female Iron man (Pepper Potts in an Iron man suit has atleast been used in comics, along with a female Crimson Dynamo and others), but we won't get a movie starring a Toni Stark or a woman actually called the Joker, just like we won't see a male Storm in an X-Men movie or a male Amazon from Paradise Island in a Justice League movie.

"I have seen this mentioned on a number of fan sites" doesn't even make it worth serious speculation, IMO.

I'd love to see Alexander Luthor, then maybe we'd get a CSA/Earth-3 movie! Don't even try to tell me that wouldn't be awesome. Especially if it's a crossover!

Anybody else remember Nasthalia ("Nasty") Luthor, Lex's evil niece, who used to give Supergirl a hard time back in the Silver Age?
