Shatner's "The Captains - Close Up" Miniseries on DVD

We've just had word that the Shatner 5-part documentary miniseries "The Captains - Close Up" is coming to DVD in August. DEFINITELY want to pick this up as I never caught it on EPIX...

THE CAPTAINS: CLOSE UP at Amazon.com, released August 13th

Has anyone here already seen it? Anyone planning on grabbing the DVD?

Looking forward to this. Saw the first one (last year, was it?) and I thought it was quite good, although The Sisko definitely seemed to still be living on another plane of existence from the rest of us mere mortals. His interview seemed quite nebulous and disjointed, much like the jazz music he apparently adores. I give Shatner major kudos for keeping the conversation going in what was an arguably awkward interaction. The rest of it, particularly Stewart's recommendation to Shatner on how to live with being Kirk for so long, was positively brilliant! I'm particularly looking forward to the Chris Pine bits this time around.

I'm not convinced anyone can out-random Shatner.

^^^ Did you actually see the Avery Brooks interview? That conversation proved beyond any reasonable doubt that Shatner can be out-randomized.

One likely needs to be on copious amounts of mind-altering substances to accomplish such a feat, but it can be done.

I actually didn't find Avery Brook's conversation all that random, just philosophical. Then again, I've been to New Orleans and know plenty of people like him.

Shatner had a weird hostility to Kate Mulgrew I felt.

The only thing missing in Brooks' interview: a bag of Cheetos.

Like many Jazz musicians, Brooks sounded out there, but not random.

:shrug:With Brooks, I honestly couldn't tell the difference. A shame, too, as I really enjoyed his performance as Sisko, especially in later seasons of DS9, and his portrayal in "Pale Moonlight" was, IMO, nothing short of brilliant (he was also fantastic in "The Big Hit"). I guess I was hoping for a conversation that was a little more...coherent and cogent.

Brooks was talking about the spiritual power of music and how its influenced his life as well as his performance.

Pretty coherent to me.

I'm just saying that its funny as an off-side joke but it's not true. :-p

I liked the original but it could have been more about Star Trek.

Just got the DVD and I must say it is REALLY good. Much more interaction between the actors, and very little overlap from the original footage. Even the Brooks segment was considerably tighter than the first one. Well worth the money. :techman:
