Best known as the psychiatrist Sidney Freedman on M*A*S*H* actor Allan Arbus has passed away at age 95.

My favorite role of his was as Jesse in Greaser's Palace

I was surprised to find out he'd been married to Diane Arbus, the famous photographer, before her early death.

OMEN fans might remember him in the DAMIEN sequel in which he's fatally gassed. It's Damien Thorn's first deliberate evil act in the trilogy.

While I've long preferred the original movie version of MASH over the TV series, I always liked the character of Dr. Sidney Freedman. That character could have probably carried his own series, IMO.

He was great on M*A*S*H*, and I didn't think he was that old, he didn't look it.

R.I.P. sir.

Yeah, I assumed he wasn't much older than Alan Alda. He always seemed like a contemporary of Hawkeye, not someone almost old enough to be his father.

Side note: Am I the only one who assumes that Frank Miller used Arbus as the model for his Dr. Wolper character in "TDKR"?

Re: RIP Allen Arbus

That's news to me. I'd have to reread that again to see. Arbus was much closer to Harry Morgan's age, perhaps even older. In OMEN II, his character was eliminated after uncovering dirty deeds by his Devil-dominated company. He told Robert Foxworth what he knew, not knowing the true reasons why, and not knowing that Foxworth was basically behind it. (The Foxworth subplot in OMEN II is subtle and clever, but most don't seem to think much of the sequel, sadly.)
