DS9 and/or Bashir followup...
So, Reddit failed me, downvoted without cause, and no reply given...
I Really want to continue with DS9, or simply Dr. Bashir, in book form. I honestly have no idea where to start, and I know that there are almost as many trek novels out there as there are fans... Does anyone have any hints on where I should begin, where I should start my Trek Book adventures? Thanks! :) |

You could, I suppose, pick up with the Typhon Pact books, but I'd read them all... |
Re: DS9 and/or Bashir followup...
well, that'd be the place to start! Thanks so much! :)

Re: DS9 and/or Bashir followup...
would it be detrimental if I started with the Typhon Pact and then read the rest, or should I do it all in a specific order?
|
Re: DS9 and/or Bashir followup...
I'd say theres some good Bashir stuff in the earlier Relaunch stuff. And there's amazing DS9 stuff in general. I'd read them all if I were you.

Re: DS9 and/or Bashir followup...
Alrighty! I guess that's what I'll do...
So would you too recommend the order on the wiki page above, starting with "The Lives of Dax" |
Re: DS9 and/or Bashir followup...
From (fallible) memory I'd say you could read Lives of Dax and A Stitch In Time anytime and start with N Vector, but it's your call.

Re: DS9 and/or Bashir followup...
To continue the saga of DSN and Bashir, I'd say read the DSN Relaunch in the editorially-intended order. In later years, the DSN novels and other series began to mix a bit under newer headings, so I'd include them. Bolded are books with a special Bashir focus.

I'd fully back Sci's list, it can be worth reading other novels that are set at the same time as then all of Trek becomes one big story.

Re: DS9 and/or Bashir followup...
If you're curious about how it all fits together, my signature contains a giant flowchart that pieces it all together. Don't feel like you have to read anything in particular, though - that list Sci posted is going to be brilliant reading start to finish even if you don't add anything else to it.
Be aware also that a lot of those books are collected in Twist Of Faith and These Haunted Seas, two bigger omnibus editions. Oh, and you should also probably know that there's a huge time-jump before Destiny, where the DS9 narrative skips several years. There was some editorial changeover and it's not the smoothest of transitions. However: all the stories before are fantastic, and all the stories after are fantastic, and it's absolutely worth the journey. It'll just be better if you know to expect it going in. |

Re: DS9 and/or Bashir followup...
So I am slowly making my way through the Typhon Pact books . . . but I am wondering (hoping) that Bashir's Section 31 storyline is picked up later.

Bashir (and Ezri) has a small but critical role in A Burning House, which is set during the relaunch period.
