One of two Die Hard in the White House movies coming out in 2013. This one's got a somewhat smaller budget but plays it straight. From the director of Training Day, King Arthur and Shooter.

Could be good, could be crap. I'm a sucker for the Die Hard On A scenario but I don't really care for Butler. Hadn't realised Freeman was in it though and Eckhart is always good. I wonder how the other one, in which Chatum Tanning stars and Jamie Foxx is the Pres, will compare.

Looks like it could be good brainless fun but Butler is a charisma black hole. They shoulda had Eckhart play the lead role with Morgan Freeman as the president. (It's too weird to see a movie like this with him in it where he doesn't play the president.)

I assume he's playing a role a la Dean Stockwell in Air Force One and they wanted somebody heavy enough to do it.

Since he's the acting president here, he's more Glenn Close in Air Force One.

Wait and see a response from White House Down, Roland Emmerich's terrorists-occupy-the-White-House movie with Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx.

Pretty much, although it'll probably be more enjoyable once one accepts it for what it is: a brainless popcorn flick. It does, however, have the added bonus of featuring Morgan Freeman and Melissa Leo.

Yeah, but she wasn't setup as a pseudo-villain the way the Stockwell character was.

Conceptually, I like it, and I like Antoine Fuqua's work.

The FX work, however, looks shoddy.

Finally watched it. Looks like shit. It isn't Die Hard on a ... It's AIR FORCE ONE... on the ground. Whoop dee do.
