The theme song is just atrocious
 

No getting around it... it is horrific. I would rather listen to an old lady scream while I hear nails on a chalkboard in the background.

What the fuck were they thinking?

And another thing thats terrible about this show, the music they play during the episodes is horrible and makes the show very cheesy.

Say what you like about theme song but the score of the episodes themselves is excellent, the best music in all the series.

I also love singing it VERY LOUD during the opening of the other Trek series, to annoy people.

It's a great theme song. The theme and the imagery with it were very evocative Trek's spirit of exploration. I enjoyed it very much.

I don't mind it so much. They somehow managed to make it sound worse by Season 3 though. The up tempo beat doesn't match the crew going through their dark night of the soul.

I'd have liked to have seen them keep changing the theme tune and opening titles every year. Take a look at the Mirror Universe two-parter and it pretty much confirms how successful, radical change would've been. Do something different each year after the history of exploration montage.

Gradually by the final season, have it end up beginning to blend in with 'future' Star Trek shows. Starfields, ship flybys and Scott Bakula saying the "To Boldly Go..." mission statement.
