Ray Parker's awesomely weird, kinda pervy "Ghostbusters" lyrics

Let's analyze, shall we?

Quote:

f there's something strange
in your neighborhood
Who ya gonna call?
GHOSTBUSTERS

If there's something weird
and it don't look good
Who ya gonna call?
GHOSTBUSTERS
I think streetwalking prostitutes are pretty strange and weird... will the Ghostbusters take them on? How?

Quote:

I ain't afraid of no ghosts
Good on ya. But who are you, exactly? Are you a Ghostbuster? 'Cause even they get scared of 'em sometimes...

Quote:

If you're seeing things
running through your head
Who can ya call?
A top-notch psychiatrist?

Quote:

An invisible man
sleeping in your bed (yeaow!)
Who ya gonna call?
Okay, I'll give you this one - that's an excellent time to call the Ghostbusters. But your yeaow! makes you seem just a tad, er, excited about the whole thing...

Quote:

If ya all alone
pick up the phone
and call
GHOSTBUSTERS
Really? Don't you want to contextualize that, as in "if ya all alone when the invisible man sleeps in your bed, then call"? Or are you just hoping that the next "all alone" person who calls is a hot girl looking for a date?

Quote:

I ain't afraid of no ghosts
I here it likes the girls
"It"? Isn't there more than just one ghost? What "it" exactly are you talking about? Are you even talking about a ghost here, or... ?!

Quote:

If you've had a dose of a
freaky ghost baby
Ya better call
GHOSTBUSTERS
I'm not sure I want to know what "a dose of a freaky ghost" is...

Quote:

Lemme tell ya something
Bustin' makes me feel good!
I knew it. You're a whack job!

Quote:

Don't get caught alone no no
Okay, now you're not even pretending to care about Ghostbusting, you're just really looking for a date. Clearly.

Quote:

When it comes through your door
Unless you just want some more
Er, see the "freaky dose" discussion above...

Quote:

Who ya gonna call?
Someone else!

:p

Let’s say this Twinkie represents the normal amount of over-analysis on the TrekBBS. Based on this topic's sample, it would need a Twinkie… thirty-five feet long, weighing approximately six hundred pounds.

Whilst touring in the aftermath of Ghostbusters, Ray Parker was in Paris when his then girlfriend famously asked him why the tower wasn't leaning. This story may not be accurate but it is funny.

Sexual innuendo in a rock and roll song? Unprecedented!

Wasn't there a lawsuit over that song? With Huey Lewis and the News?

Yep, there was. He claimed it was too similar to his song. The only real similar thing about it is some of the melody. In music though there have been a lot of similar melodies, so I don't buy it. I think he was just overly picky about it.

I think there's a list somewhere of all the songs that were released around the same time and incorporated a vaguely similar melody.

Strangely enough, after all these years the two are still fighting in court. Parker paid a settlement to Lewis with an agreement that the settlement would remain confidential... which it did until Lewis talked about winning the settlement on VH-1's 'Behind the Music' in 2001. Parker sued him for breaching their agreement and the lawsuit is still ongoing.

So, while collectively Parker Lewis can't lose, it seems Parker and Lewis can lose individually. ;)

It would be funny if M sued both of them for ripping off 'Pop Muzik.'

'Ghostbusters' also shares a lot of lyrics in common with Queen's 'Invisible Man.'

Well, it is a double negative so he could still be a ghostbuster.
