Trek writers: So we've just finished watching Book of Boba Fett, which totally destroyed that character's mystique and turned him into a confused hapless lost soul who has emotional hangups and has no idea what he's doing. Hey, let's go do the same for the Breen!

Fett is way better for the Book of Boba Fett than he ever was in the OT or Clone Wars. If that happens to the Breen then I will quietly applaud the writers.

One thing that wasn't clear to me is when Burnham mentioned the Breen could track their jumps. If Discovery jumped to the Delta Quadrant, would it not take the Breen quite some time to reach them? This is all assuming the Breen are still using some type of traditional warp drive where traveling thousands of light years still takes a long time.

One argument I do not understand is that this ep was boring. Maybe its me but I really enjoy the politics in a show, it fleshes out the different cultures and their ideology.

From what we know, no other species uses anything outside conventional warp.Yeah, that is a plot hole in the ep.

Between T'Rina and T'Lyn, we've gotten some of the best new Vulcan characters in this franchise for a long time.

STD getting some "inspiration" from other SciFi IPs? Wouldn't be the first time...

The Terran Empire was never the same since the Spock Heresy. There will be 55 novels about it, and the Emperor then has to ascend to the Golden Throne to perpetually keep the Prophets from invading--oh wait, Strange New Worlds already did that Golden Throne business in one episode

    Fixed that for you.
Sounds good. When does the first novel come out?
Given the multiple workarounds shown in past seasons, especially transwarp conduits, probably not as much of an advantage than delaying the inevitable, as well as the fact that Burnham saw a future of the Breen decimating HQ. She has no reason to think they won't try it earlier.

Earth is shown to have a planetary shield, which eventually failed after hours of bombardment from debris spread by the DMA . So if your point is that shields can fail and planets can still be vulnerable, I agree.

    More like history of Earth.
Not sure what that's from but it also reeks of historical influences.

Yeah, we'd have already had a copyright lawsuit against Paramount had it been THAT obvious.

When you word it like that, it makes it sound like they were only released on the period of 1995-2005, which is what can only be accurately labeled "late 90s" and "early 2000s." Which is a bit misleading for a continuity which didn't officially end until 2021, meaning they continued to be released throughout the entire 2000s, plus the entire 2010s and the early 2020s.
I know you love them, but it's over, mate
Doesn't matter, put the books away
It's never easy to walk away, let them go
    It'll be alright
