And once again I'm here asking so many questions. Mainly, why do people watch a show they find dumb?

Based on Jett Reno's past resume, my headcanon is the bartender at the Red Door/L Street in the Community episode "Mixology Certification" is Jett's Greendale timeline counterpart.

A decade plus on twitter has confirmed there is no bottom to the depths people revel in their own personal hell.

If I were working for Paramount+, Secret Hideout, Whoever, the last thing I'd do is listen to hate-watchers. And not because I don't like hate-watchers, but because I'd know they'd watch no matter what. If they're there no matter what, I'd be able to take them for granted, and I'd feel no obligation to listen to anything they have to say. If I wanted to expand my viewer base, I'd aim for the people who aren't watching. They'd be the ones who I wouldn't be able to take for granted.

Hate-watchers are cutting their nose to spite their face. Hate-watchers, I don't expect you to understand, but Paramount+, Secret Hideout, and Alex Kurtzman don't care if you hate what you're watching. A viewer is a viewer. A subscriber is a subscriber. A Neilson Rating is a Neilson Rating. Those are the only metrics they look at. Those are the only metrics they care about. If you want Kurtzman Trek to end... don't watch it!

"But I have to watch!" No, you don't. In fact, if you're serious about wanting New Trek to end, you won't watch it. You won't give it attention. But you're not serious about wanting it to end. You need it to continue because you need to have a punching bag, and that's what you've chosen.

So, ironically, hate-watchers will be more dedicated to watching Starfleet Academy than I am, if I'm not into it. They'll be dedicated to watching a "teeny-bopper" show so they can trash it just like they've trashed Discovery. Such an obligation. Tearing into a show where they won't even be the target audience.

Not all Star Trek is worth watching.

I skipped a lot of it. I skipped a lot of Star Wars.

    Life is too short.

You're lazy, but at least you're honest. I'll credit you for that.

After this episode, I'm still underwhelmed by Moll's characterization. There's not much color to her character, she's just played on the same note in every episode. L'ak, however, was far more interesting.

I'm hoping she'll pull her weight more in the next three episodes, without L'ak around.

Someone, not on this board, mentioned Moll looks like Pris from Blade Runner and now that's who I think of whenever I see the character. When they said Moll and L'ak were modelled after Bonnie & Clyde, I feel like it was superficial. They were in love with each other and they were on the run, so technically it's true, but that's about as far as it looks like it goes.

I see a mix of Yar's sister and Kira from Chronicles of Riddick.

I'm sure the initial pitch for them in the writer's room was the Bonnie and Clyde archetype. That's an easier cultural shorthand.

I definitely get Pris vibes, too.

I fell almost fell asleep during this one. I may have actually fallen asleep at one point, I'm not sure. I feel like this episode could have been b-plot in another episode.
