During Emissary, Carddies attacked and Chief told Kira..."what shields"? Yet during the attack, it looked liked bubble shields protected against the attack. Did I miss something?

If you go back to that moment where the Chief asks “What shields?” and continue watching the episode for about 50 seconds, O'Brien says this: “I can transfer all available power to establish partial shields around critical areas …”

I believe in the olden days we would also say this: /thread

    Always shield.

Unless you can be Batman. Then be Batman.

And tell your sidekick to put some :censored:ing pants on.

The explanation provided by @Michael makes sense. And as for why the shields were spherical instead of bubbles over critical areas, maybe that's just the way 24th century generators are designed to work.

It's really just practical. Given the number of fistfights Batman and Robin get in (BAM! SMASH! POW!), he's probably going to be thrown down on concrete or asphalt from time to time. And if you don't cover your legs, they're going to be reduced to shredded meat. Consequence, Batman has to fight crime alone for a week or two, while Robin's recuperating in the Batcave's makeshift infirmary.

Say what you want about Catwoman, at least she prepares for the worst, which is why she uses a whip. She knows that it's not a matter of if one of her male adversaries will take away her weapon but when. But since a whip is only effective when wielded by an expert, it can't be used against her.

    True.
I've been watching this talented young man as he has been in the circus world for a while, and practices with a variety of whips. He notes that as a weapon, if you know how to use it, it is very effective. If you don't, it's nearly useless.
