Yep. The Necromongers stuff just didn't work for me. I preferred the more grounded look of the first movie.

It was a survival movie barely with two or three sets, and freaking alien monsters.

Chronicles feels very grounded, aside from the Lord Marshall, and was an amazing film.

The BBC will soon air the third take on Ian Rankin’s Rebus, with Richard Rankin (no idea if he’s related or not) following the footsteps of the miscast, IMHO, John Hannah and the perfectly cast Ken Stott from earlier shows. This will feature the character (who is now retired and acting as a consultant in the novel timelines) as a younger detective. https://www.digitalspy.com/tv/a6065...aWN8AGFI1PB9sX-6h0zIty7AJFVU2rr2RBlnepG0wX1Zd

I saw Kanopy added the George Clooney Failsafe remake and I remembered really liking it when it aired and never seeing it since. I put it on and it announced it was live in 2000 and I felt so old

I remember it as being pretty successful and was at the start of the short lived trend of TV shows doing live episodes. Kinda surprised it was the only time anyone tried it for a made for tv movie maybe it wasn't as successful as I remember.

The cast is stacked. I did not remember anyone except Clooney and Hank Azaria.

I hear, Highlander 2 and Son of the Mask DVD cases are also good places to hide porn.

What can be said that hasn't been said a million times. Give us something new! Also by new that doesn't just mean something without a brand or familiar name tagged to it. Give us some stories that feel unique and original.

One way to go is bring back the high concept movie again. I loved the Pop Tart movie on Netflix in part because it is original in comparison to most stuff being made today. That was also kind of why Barbie worked as well. Aliens building the pyramids, A family of hillbilly vampires, A dog that is God who has come back to help Jack Black fall in love with Margot Robbie. Anything new and unique.

But are any of those ideas that unique? Barbie isn't the first 'innocent abroad' film, nor the first film where a fictional character enters the real world and/or a toy comes to life. It worked in part because Gerwig is a great writer and director and Robbie and Gosling are great actors and genuine stars

As the old saying goes, there are no new ideas, all the stories have already been told. What matters these days is execution, whether a production can still do something interesting with a premise that we're familiar with or not.

    Meaning what exactly?
None of those ideas are new, especially aliens building the pyramids. That's a very, very, old story at this point.

    Good deal.

Sort of new. More like a unique take on a familiar idea or concept.Which is really anything when you get to storytelling. Also unique compared to what is common with most movies being made today. We haven't gotten many silly or high concept stuff in awhile. Comic book movies are sort of that but even the MCU developed a kind of formula you can see in all their movies so that formula is now starting to feel played out.

A24 and Peacock have supposedly scrapped Bryan Fuller's Friday the 13th prequel Crystal Lake (akin to Bates Motel perhaps?), but other reports are saying it's still in development and going through a massive overhaul.

She was also recently awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom (TrekMovie.com) at the White House. Many sincere congratulations to her for that esteemed accomplishment.

Also extreme bonus kudos to her for surviving the ubiquitous shoulder caressing and hair-sniffing from President Sockpuppet.
