As far as I know it's the first anybody has ever seen a non-human animal apply a treatment like that to purposefully treat a wound.
In the spirit of that thought, there is this: https://www.nationalgeographic.com/animals/article/humpback-whale-mating-recorded-first-time-males
I talked to my mom about this this morning, and she thought the same thing you did, so I guess this might not be as big of a deal as I thought. But I do still stand by my point about having to constantly redefine what separates us from other animals.
There’s maybe a bit of clarification in the accompanying article: So that’s why it’s considered newsworthy, even though other animals have also been seen self-medicating. Also, it’s probably worthwhile noting that this is in the news cycle right now because the study about it was just published in Nature, but the actual incident occurred in 2022.
So they actually managed to find the full version of the viral lostwave song "Everyone Knows That" (actually called "Ulterior Motives")... and it's from an 80s porn film. I have to admit, I didn't see that one coming. I'm not going to put the song here, because of the, um, porn sounds audible in the recording, so instead here's an article about the song creators finding out about the search their song inspired, once they were identified as the creators. https://www.rollingstone.com/cultur...otives-lost-media-track-80s-album-1235012719/
Ever seen videos of drivers who miss their freeway/highway exit, stop, and go in reverse to get back to that exit? Saw one video from China that went viral. Then I saw another video in the USA! That video seems to be gone. I wonder if the driver who did it saw it and complained.
I'd be a bit perplexed if a random managed to do that, then come across a video of them doing it online. The odds are drivers whose driving are posted online by others are blissfully unaware of it.
Was watching the latest Blue Bloods ep and Selleck actually said the phrase "2400 hours". That's not actually a thing, is it?
Thanks. I just find it funny that some people are so desperate to prove that we're better than animals, and every time they think they have, they get proven wrong again.
The problem is the egotistical demand that there *must* be such a fundamental difference in the first place. Though it seems to be weakening a bit as organized religion loses power.
