Russell T. Davies Returns to Doctor Who as New Showrunner

Another interesting scene with Ncuti, Millie & Bonnie.

It looks like everyone but Ruby has forgotten their real identity.

Information on the new episodes from SFX Magazine

-Space Babies: Begins the 'foundling arc' for The Doctor and Ruby.
-Devil's Chord: Ncuti and Millie will sing and chat with The Beatles, Maestro is a 'delicious villain'
-Boom: 'Intense' story about Ruby's first trip to an alien planet, torn apart by warfare
-73 Yards: The Doctor and Ruby arrive on the west coast of Wales, Ruby must solve a folklore mystery
-Dot and Bubble: Black Mirror-esque episode about danger within an alien colony. Touches on present day issues
-Rogue: Will introduce 'psychic earrings' which enable The Doctor and Millie to dance with the same skill as those in the period
-Legend of Ruby Sunday/Empire of Death: "Shocking" and "devastating" finale

-Devil's Chord: Ncuti and Millie will sing and chat with The Beatles...
I'm curious to see how that works considering how we already know the episode won't feature any of their songs.

Maestro is a 'delicious villain'
Let me guess, that is the character played by Jinx Monsoon?
My thoughts exactly.

-Boom: 'Intense' story about Ruby's first trip to an alien planet, torn apart by warfare
Good to know there's at least one non-Earth episode. My single greatest frustration with the first Davies era was how many of those episodes were Earth-centric. A bit of a shame it's a war episode but I'll go in with an open mind. Hopefully we'll get more alien world episodes and not a repeat of his past tendencies (long shot, I know).

-73 Yards: The Doctor and Ruby arrive on the west coast of Wales, Ruby must solve a folklore mystery
I love a good folklore mystery. That's a good use of an Earth-centric story (instead modern-day London ad nauseum).

-Dot and Bubble: Black Mirror-esque episode about danger within an alien colony.
Curious description considering 75% of Black Mirror is distinctively not family friendly.

-Legend of Ruby Sunday/Empire of Death: "Shocking" and "devastating" finale
Classic Davies in other words.

Well...even if we take the real reason why there's so many Earth-centric adventures in Doctor Who (budgetary), there's really just the in-universe fact that the Doctor consider themselves Earth's defender and it's pretty much their home planet after the loss of Gallifrey. They've always had an almost obsessive fascination with Earth, even in different time periods. They love it enough for one recent incarnation to retire there. The Doctor's never going to stray too far from it, although there will still be off-world adventures too.

So it looks like S2/15 might start a little earlier. Some set dressing for the finale has 24th of May as an important date on it, and that is a Saturday.

The person on the poster is
Ruby's boyfriend who appears in Episode 4.

And I'm even more convinced now that Aneurin Barnard's evil politician is the Big Bad of S2/15.

RTD repeat himself, surely not

Ncuti confirms he will take a break after series two, either a new project or a holiday, but will then return

So I give it “3 series before a couple of specials leading to the next doctor” tops. That’s been on par with how long the Doctor actors stay
Maybe we could get a couple one off specials focused on 14 and Donna's family while Ncuti is taking his break?

"BBC announces new Three Doctor Who special....but it's just David Tennant as Past, Present and Future version of himself."

Cowritten by RTD and Steven Moffat

RTD- It's an exhilarating 90 minute Christmas special with lots of surprises and special appearances by some famous people we wrangled! Who are they? Well you'll just have to tune in!

Moffat- It's a Christ Carol but the doctor is Scrooge! His past and future must help him in this special!

That would legitimately be awesome, although to be fair we already have an amazing Doctor Who take on A Christmas Carol.

No.

The last thing we need to be doing as a fandom is encouraging RTD to entertain the idea of bringing 14 out of retirement.

Gatwa taking a break won't actually lead to much of a gap for the audience. With his second season nearly done filming, Gatwa could easily wait until next year to film his third season, and we the audience will watch it in 2026 as it was likely planned anyway.
