"Luckiest Man on the Face of the Earth" - When a captain who survived a month-long siege from Dominion and Breen troops arrives on DS9, despite the odds being too high to survive on his own, he tries his hand at various activities on the station. He goes undefeated in both dabo and tongo, masters Altonian brain teasers in the holosuites in mere days, gains command of DS9, and even has success in an abrupt marriage proposal to a woman he had an extremely bad breakup with. It attracts the suspicions of Sisko, who asks Odo, Jake and Ezri to help him investigate. As it reminds Sisko of an encounter during his days on the Saratoga with non-corporal beings that could make anyone the luckiest person in the universe, if the beings inhabited their body first.

"Lofty Ambitions" - Kira befriends a friend of Ziyal’s that arrives on the station. Much like Ziyal, she is of a mixed Bajoran and Cardassian heritage. However, she causes a stir on both Bajor and Cardassia when she seeks to become the first vedek of Cardassian descent. Meanwhile Alexander tells Worf that seeks to partake in the Second Rite of Ascension. This encourages Jadzia to also wish to go through the Klingon tradition, which no Trill has ever done before.

    "Selena"

While engaging in a spy adventure in the holosuite, Dr. Bashir is surprised to meet a character he didn't remember programming into the game, a beautiful and vivacious woman named Selena. Bashir's surprise is increased immeasurably when, later that evening when alone in his quarters, he answers his door to find Selena! After inviting her in, they share a night of passion. Bashir is disappointed to find her gone when he awakes in the morning. Bashir finds that he cannot stop thinking about her and is distracted with thoughts of her while at work and at breakfast with Garak.

Meanwhile, the Federation crew of Deep Space Nine and Odo's security team are quite busy. A delegation of Bajoran priests, vedeks, and the Kai herself arrive for a Bajoran holy week ceremony during which they will engage in an extremely rare showing of the ancient holy Bajoran Tychel Crystal, thousands of years old and kept well hidden from the Cardassians. Ancient Bajoran belief has it that on rare occasions, the Crystal has the power to grant a lucky individual their fondest wish...

"Ghost In The Machine" - A bar patron who cannot pay his debts seemingly ditches the station, so Odo lets Quark into the patron's guest quarters to seize whatever he left behind in payment. Among the junk is an unusual bit of alien technology with no obvious purpose. Quark gives it to Rom, who gives it to Nog, who trades it to Jake for something he wants. Everywhere the device goes, trouble (or at least mild annoyance) follows. In reality, the patron was hiding in the device and coming out and causing mischief when nobody was looking. Meanwhile, Odo and Kira read a Bajoran text and discuss it together, but their different interpretations cause friction.

"Bending Towards The Light" - The command crew of DS9 abruptly decides that they are going to take the space station to a brand-new location in the Alpha Quadrant, far away from Bajor. It takes Keiko’s knowledge of botany and of plants bending towards light to understand what is happening – the crew is attracted to some stimuli that is directing them away from Bajor. Keiko calls on her husband and Bashir to help fix the problem. Can Keiko save the station and its crew before DS9 disappearing into the singularity they are headed towards?

Meanwhile, Worf and Jake Sisko take a botany class.

“The Book of Sisko” - A Bajoran scholar finds an illuminated manuscript in a sepulchre that suggests that Bajor may have had its own Benny Russell, of a sort - he was an ancient prophet, a la Jeremiah/Elijah from the Bible, who called the Bajorans back from worshiping false gods. Ben imagines (not hallucinates, this time) himself and his fellow crewmembers in the roles of the false vedeks and the people of the city.
