Keeping her on would be bad business thinking. You don't insult the corporations money makers.

She has nothing to stand on. She wasn't fired, they just didn't renew their contract.

The problem with this is that by continuing to employ after all of the things she said, it's going to make it look like they're OK with it, and in this age, no decent company is going to want to do that. Some people might be OK with it, but a lot aren't and it could potentially lose them a lot of money.

Hera would be a much better choice to lead that kind of show anyway. And let's not pretend that Gina Carano was going to be the centerpiece star of the show. Rangers of the New Republic was going to be the "Cara Dune show" just as much as Deep Space Nine was going to be the "Chief O'Brien show".

    Just use Carson Teva.

Better actor, more interesting character, and you have better established relationships with multiple New Republic players.

I don't think most people would even be aware of the issue. Twitter doesn't really represent most people. Lots of the attention she now gets happened after she was let go. Without that most people would only see Cara Dunne. Some people survive cancel culture as long as they don't create crimes.

If she has the acting chops, she'll resurface at some point. If she doesn't, well, then it is MAGA panhandling for the rest of her days.

I think her acting is good enough to land jobs. Granted she is built more for action movies than anything else but I could see her popping up maybe in something like a S. Craig Zahler movie at some point.

I didn't think much of her either way. She was there. Likely, a lot of actors out there that could have come in and done a better job.

Functionally, the effect on her was the same as being fired, and depending on the exactly what type of contract it is, employers are still subject to rules with regards to why contracts are not renewed. Also, it's not unheard of for laws to be applied based on impact. For example, the Disparate Impact rule allows laws to be struck down as discriminatory even if a protected class is never mentioned in the law.

Maybe but one thing I did like is her background as a MIA fighter does make the kicking ass part seem more credible. She looks like someone who could be a solider. Sometimes tv and movie puts actors in action roles that don't really seem plausible, Adrein Brody as a Marine in "Predators" or Melanie Lynskey as a strong resistance leader in "The Last of Us."

Agreed on all points. In addition though; I'm sill holding out hope they'll bring on Janina Gavankar as Iden Versio if they need to fill the role of a New Republic Commando type. Much more interesting character as an ex-Imperial Special Forces operative who fought on the other side of the battles of Yavin AND Endor so knows back to front how Imperials think, is trusted by Leia, so then by extension presumably by Hera too.
Plus yes, also: much better actor all-round.

I would just go with Bill Burr as the lead. Still bring in Cobb Vanth. Then some new characters. If we aren't getting another season of Boba Fett then maybe also Fennic Shand.

I'm still a little shocked that Iden hasn't popped up in live action anywhere, same goes Cal Kestis and Cere Junda, all three of the actors who play them have fairly extensive live action credits, and the characters seem to pretty popular.

case is more than just having her contract not renewed, its also the reputational damage of them equating her as some sort of holocaust denier or something like that. people are let go all the time, Disney kind of spiked the ball instead of saying, were parting ways, have a nice life.

Also, there may have been a verbal contract of them saying, yes you'll be in the next series, etc. etc. that would have to be ruled on.
So I see this going to trial still.

She never denied the Holocaust. She just made the mistake of pointing out that society was once again being partitioned into the "clean" and "unclean", drawing parallels to how Jews were treated in pre-Holocaust Germany. And no one wants to hear that.

I find the whole story vaguely ridiculous. It is obvious that Gina's ideas and the way she expressed them were incompatible with her work at Disney. Either she learned to keep them to herself or no job. It seems simple to me.

Then personally I think she was incredibly stupid. Her acting career had been so-so with the exception of Haywire (and her role in Deadpool II). Working on The Mandalorian was the best thing that could have happened to her. She would likely have had work for years between new seasons and spin-offs. And instead she stupidly burned everything. For what?
