So given Stranger Things still has months of shooting left who is headed for a quick death; Hopper or Red Guardian?

 

Twist: Neither dies.

 

Stranger Things already played the emotional strings (for characters) with Hopper's assumed death (and played it again when he returned to America), so I kind of doubt Hopper would be the character meeting a permanent end.

Is Finn Jones hinting at an MCU return? This may be an unpopular and controversial opinion, but I truly hope so.

I don't really want the worst actor of the absolute worst live action Marvel show ever made to come back, but maybe if its a multiverse thing and his dies quickly and/or in a hilarious way I could accept it. We did get to see Anson Mount come back as Black Bolt for a cameo like that, and that was enjoyable.

Seriously, what a monkey's paw wish it would be for all the people who were wishing for more Netflix Marvel character returns after Daredevil/Charlie Cox, only for the returning character to be Iron Fist

 

Sweet. After Daredevil my favorite Defender.

I don't see a recent Marvel comics thread so I'll throw this here: just read Spectacular Spider-Men #1 and it was great. It feels like a return to classic Spidey greatness from this mediocre run we've had on ASM. Great pacing, good art, great quipping, and avoiding the pitfalls of writing for the trade: I recommend it, even to people who haven't read Spidey comics before, because it feels like a great onboarding point, too.

 

A late post in support how how good Echo was. Relatively quiet, downscale and subtle for a Marvel show about supernatural powers and I was engaged throughout the entire show. Graham Greene was my favorite part of the series but Vincent D'Onofrio's guarded and sympathetic portrayal of Kingpin helped elevate the show to something even better. It was a MCU show I'd been longing for - a hero with powers but more down-to-earth in the execution. I wish we got more like it.

 

Which became very obvious when he appeared in the second season of Luke Cage and was handled by different writers.

 

Likewise The Defenders.

 

I think it pretty obvious that any blame for the quality of both Inhumans and Iron Fist season 1 lay at the feet of the showrunner for both shows, Scott Buck (who was also showrunner for the much derided final season of Dexter). When someone's two Marvel credits are considered two of the worst Marvel products, it seems disingenuous at best to point the finger at the lead actor for the quality of the final product. In that regard, blaming Finn Jones for the quality of Iron Fist season 1 would be akin to blaming the quality of Inhumans on Anson Mount.

Also, Jones had next to zero time to actually prepare for the role. He literally got on a plane after his last day on Game of Thrones, flew to New York, and started filming Iron Fist without any real prep time and zero fight training. And as noted by others, his performance in not only season 2 of his own show, but also in Defenders and Luke Cage show a marked improvement.

For my own part, I think the Netflix shows squandered the potential of the Power Man and Iron Fist duo. I would love to see that potential fulfilled (Along with Daughters of the Dragon as well, of course). So, I say bring on Finn Jones.

 

I stand by that, if for no other reason then even without speaking Anson Mount is a more charismatic actor then Finn Jones, actually pretty much every Inhuman actor does more with the terrible material that they're given then Finn Jones does.

I still think that Defenders was awful. The whole plot was stupid, and they did everything they could to have as little actual crossover or teamwork between the characters as possible. Daredevil has quit being a superhero (again) at the start, there are no actual supervillains at any point (no, the Netflix serial killer version of Elektra doesn't count), and for some reason Sigourney Weaver is there doing nothing but getting a paycheck. The action was cheap and stuck to the boring "grounded" Netflix style, which meant that Daredevil gets a few good action bits but everyone else is so nerfed they're basically not even superhumans. Did you know that Luke Cage can lift and throw bulldozers at people in the comics? That kind of power would be fun to see, but no fun is allowed in the Marvel Netflix shows, only second rate Nolan style "grounded" BS, while even the cheapest Arrowverse show had more fun/nicer looking action on a weekly basis then anything in the non-Daredevil parts of the Netflix Marvel Universe.

 

I agree that Finn Jones doesn't deserve the flak he gets for Iron Fist. I would love to see him continue in the role alongside Mike Colter and Krysten Ritter. I also think that a "Heroes for Hire" series or, better yet, movie could be great. Imagine Luke, Danny, Colleen and Misty together--maybe even alongside some other Heroes for Hire we've already seen such as the Black Knight, Shang-Chi, She-Hulk and Ant-Man. There's your new Avenger franchise right there. I'd much prefer to see that than the Thunderbolts.

Marvels was an underperformer on streaming as well. Couldn't even make the Overall Top Ten.

Looks like The Marvels dropped off the 'Movies' chart almost immediately as well.



So audiences really have spoken regarding The Marvels. There's no way to spin it positively.

For Echo?

Nah man. It dropped like a stone after one week. Which is terrible for a multiple-episode launch.

Gone off the charts a week after it's debut. Audiences tried it, and peaced out. Poor word of mouth.

Name them. Let's see.

Lol. Apples and Oranges. None of those films were on the same budget scale as this, they were mid-budget compared to where we are now.

And Cap and Thor still had positive ROI (return on investment), due to their lower budgets.

Only 'Incredible Hulk' didn't make enough money to justify it's production/marketing costs.
