Can someone please tell me how you got the books out of the slipcase without damaging either the books or the case. For the life of me I can't figure this out.

With both hands hold the slipcase with the books facing down. Thrust the slipcase downward as hard as you can stopping just before you complete the motion or hit something. Curse. Repeat. Continue the action until one book gets a little out of the slipcase. Use your fingers and fingernails to pry one book free. Curse some more. Once they are free from the slipcase, lay books and slipcase aside. Buy a brand new pair of ribbon style shoelaces. Before putting books back in the slipcase , put a shoe lace around each one so you'll have something to grab onto to pull it free. Don't forget to curse, tell the kids to play outside so they won't hear any new curse words.

I have been trying this method and cursing up a storm and still can't get them out of the damn slipcase. How could they design something so stupid. This is not a cheap item and I am really pissed off.

The second time I got them out, this was before I bought the shoelaces, is to use your fingers to gently stretch all 4 sides of the slipcase. Keep doing it until one book starts edging out. Cursing still required.

Finally gottem out of the slipcase. The cover on volume one seems to have been stuck to the glue inside the slipcase and is now showing damage to the back of the book. Time to call Amazon.

And also "Vejur," in Roddenberry's TMP novelization and several TMP-era works of the period (like Triangle). ;)

You're a premium member of TrekBBS, but you want your Trek TV fix for free?

You could always visit a friend to watch "Discovery" on their coin. Or gather in a university dorm room like the fans did in the 60s.

I enjoy what goes on in here, so I have no problem paying.

I have a better AV set up than my friends who would pay no matter what, and I don't think campus security would be happy with a middle aged man in a dorm.

Or wait until the whole season's out and get a free trial subscription to CBS All Access. Or wait until it comes out on DVD and borrow it from the library.

I never really understood wanting a refund because a piece of entertainment wasn't enjoyable. If you order something at a restaurant that's made correctly and with skill but you just happen to not like the taste at all, wouldn't it be weird to ask for a refund on those grounds?

I live in a tourist town. One of the places people like to go to is Market Square. Market Square has lots of shops, bands playing in the square, and a small indoor shopping center. It also has two Mexican restaurants. I never eat there unless family or friends from out of town want to eat at one. The food is cooked correctly, and with skill, but to those familiar with San Antonio know the food is also rather bland, the food doesn't use hot peppers like the majority of those of us of Hispanic descent are used to. At those restaurants, I expect my food to be bland because it caters to tourists so much so that the hot sauce isn't hot. I expect that there and don't make a fuss because I know what I'm getting.

If I go to other non touristy places I expect my tortilla soup to have some bite. I expect my hot sauce to be hot, and I expect my food to have flavor. If it doesn't then yes, I will send it back. Understand?

It's your money, and you're entitled to spend it on things that satisfy you instead of things that don't. That's why so many businesses have "Satisfaction guaranteed or your money back" policies. Their job is to see to your satisfaction, not their own pride in their work. That's what you're paying them for, after all.

Besides, if you get complacent in your own skill, it erodes. The occasional reminder that your work doesn't satisfy everybody is an incentive to keep trying to do better.

Maybe Khan had a master plan but simply hadn't implemented it yet. None of the genocides he was later discovered to have planned (discovered in "lost writings" after 2233 in the AR, but never found in the prime universe, if that helps) were carried out due to his defeat and banishment to the Botany Bay.

Well, in this case the cover was stuck to the case and got damaged while it was being removed, so I would say Vanyel's copy wasn't made correctly.

Funny story -- was in San Antonio this past summer as part of an educator conference-group (having been there numerous times in the past, and with my recently-married sister also having relocated to the state this past year), and our group ended up eating at Mi Tierra right there in Market Square (a mariachi band was playing in the square that same night).

It wasn't exactly my first choice, but I got outvoted. Plus, it was only a couple blocks from our hotel at the Riverwalk, which I suspect played a role in the decision. Also, we ended up having to wait almost an entire hour in the entrance bakery-area for our tables to be made ready. Fortunately, a bunch of us ordered margarita-pitchers standing up, and we were pleasantly squiffed by the time we finally got seated.

Got my replacement encyclopedia today. The books came out of the slipcase a lot easier with just one shake. I will be returning the damaged books tomorrow.
