Why is Wash in those interviews? Was he in Castle, too?

Because they were likely promoting their online show Con Man, which Alan Tudyk stars in, writes and directs. Fillion is a co-star (by Facetime) and is an Exec Producer.

It's all forms of brilliant and has the single funniest episode of anything I have seen in years. Ever wanted to know how they do voice work for video games? Watch Voiced Over. Literally laughed out loud for 10 minutes whilst on a 6am train into work. Many unimpressed, groggy people.

    Hugo - HUHH! WHAGH! ARRKGH

And what about Jennifer Beals (ok, she's 53 yo but she looks like 10 years less) or Maggie Q (37 yo)? Even if the leading commander is "only" lieutenant commander, she has to inspire respect while allying of the femininity, so...;)

Bryan Fuller mentioned Lee Pace would make a good Vulcan :)

Pushing Daisies ftw. Bring on Ronan the Accuser/Thranduil of the Woodland Realm.

How about Lea Thompson for captain? She's the right age, a trek fan, and is not currently committed to another series.

Lea Thompson is a Star Trek fan? Where did you hear that? I never have.

Given how utterly different the two franchises are, how do you think FIrefly fans would react if anyone from their show turned up in Trek?

(Ron Glass doesn't count, since he did Voyager first and then Firefly.)

Okay; totally on board with Gina Torres. Michelle Yeoh? Dude!!!! That would be beyond amazing. But I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest the person I would actually most like to see sit in the center seat. Yes, I know I'm recommending a white dude. Sorry. I feel that character is more interesting than labels. Bruce Campbell. And, yes, I'm serious.....

    I doubt he would agree.

Bruce Campbell was already approached for a Trek role ("Jack", from the Jack Pack on DS9) and turned it down.

She mentioned it when she was the celebrity guest on "Whose line is it Anyway" last week.

I honestly think they'd be stoked to see Fillion in something good again (the man was born to do scifi) and the same goes for Torres. The shows are so different from eachother too, like you say, so there probably wouldn't be much confusion. No one's mixing up Harrison Ford's roles in Star Wars and Blade Runner.

Speaking of celebrity fans, I think Mira Sorvino is a huge trekkie too.

Well, no, of course there won't be confusion, I was just curious how the typical Browncoat might react if someone from their show turned up on a "rival" like Trek.

And whoevever it ends up being, I'm fairly sure it won't be Alan Tudyk, who has had some rather unkind words for Trek and its fans in the past - I believe his specific quote was "Star Trek is for pussies"...

Although if I had to pick a Firefly actor to do Trek, it would probably be Jewel Staite, as the Romulan Commander from "The Enterprise Incident". I'm sure Charvanek's out there in DSC's time frame, after all...

As a typical browncoat and 20-year Whedonite, I'd react very well to Nathan being captain, although he'd have to get back to his Mal weight (ideally his Caleb weight). His Castle weight won't fly unless they add jokes about him constantly breaking his replicator from over-ordering.

He would be fine, and he could play it bald, so he could do x-men during hiatus :D
Actually, how weird would that be if somehow he ended up playing a younger Picard.

The thing is I think hes just a fine actor, ohhhhh, doctor! He can be the doctor! They were saying a "British doctor" is in the show. Oh great now I have my hopes up for no reason lol

I do that all the time, but yeah, he's still bankable at the box office so it will be a few years before "extends his boundaries" to tv. Or back to tv, I should say of Leto II of Arrakis.

The funny thing is I remember that last time I checked he didn't have anything planned passed another xmen after apocalypse, I just checked now he has four upcoming movies. Was starting to get worried he's get typecast.
