I always liked how they portrayed Picard as being much older than Patrick Stewart (who's four years younger than Walter Koenig in reality) as a way of showing extended lifespans in the future.

I don't know "much," as I understood it, Pat was just under 50 when TNG started and Picard was supposed to be around 60. But, yeah, it was an interesting take, especially since he didn't turn action hero until he was in his 70s. I guess that's what a 24th C mid-life crisis goes for.

    What's a fake gender?
Don't the Andorians have three genders? I'm lost here.

A jab at transgendered people maybe? Hoping I'm wrong, but that's the vibe I got, especially with the "proud of severe personal failings" line following it.

Now that'd be a pretty hateful and disgusting thought then.

Didn't ask you to speak for me, thanks.

    You're wrong, obviously.

Yes, that incorrect assumption sure was terrible.

We'd be delighted to hear what you really meant then.

And yet one expressed in other threads on this very forum. I'm giving the poster the benefit of the doubt, but I'm not sure how else to interpret it?

One thing I've learned from 50 years of Star Trek is that Trekkies really know how to suck all the fun out of being a fan.

If it was obvious there wouldn't be people trying to figure out what your post meant. As others have asked, explain what you meant and, low and behold, people won't have to guess.

Avoid guessing, you seem to be terrible at it. Also, just a pet peeve, but if you're going to get all up in my grill, at least learn the right terminology first, "transgender" is not a gender, it's a transition between 2 genders. The genders involved there are male & female. I love people so eager to start a little drama that they mix up gender, sexuality, and transitions & just sort of use them all interchangeably. This is a good example of doing social justice while not really even knowing what you're talking about, speak of the devil. Fortunately I've learned to laugh this sort of crap off, even make jokes about it. Although even that coping mechanism is getting scolded at these days, if you're not super serious & upset about your problems all the time and try to joke about it a little, it means you don't care enough. It's a real downer. Makes for poor TV too.

So with that in mind, allow me to announce (in the approved super serious fashion) that I love transgenders. I love them in a super platonic manner. So don't give me shit, mayonnaise-xir.

Still not explaining what you meant about "fake genders" though. Nice evasion.

    So, to recap:
First you make a weird, vague post that makes little sense to people here and for which you provided no context to aid interpretation. In addition to that the post could be read in a way that makes it look pretty bigoted so people ask you what it is you actually mean, hoping it's not what they thought it was.

So now you had the opportunity to come back and address that by explaining what it was you really meant, because obviously you're shocked that your poorly worded post could be read in such a fashion. Or are you?

Oh, but that's not what you ended up doing:
Instead of addressing your post, explaining it and providing some context, you come back and write a dismissive and condescending post in response to everybody who, for some inexplicable reason (as if...), didn't manage to really understand what your previous vague and nonsensical post really meant.

You know, the post that still makes little sense to people. For good reasons.

Was totally on-board with your post until I saw this.

Please please please please please don't tell me "everyone who doesn't like the new Ghostbusters is a misogynist".

You'll find me banging my head against the wall if that's what this is.

^ I won't tell you that. I'll only tell you that the people who were specifically pissed off about because it starred women are misogynists. Not sure you'll like that answer but there it is.

Nope, two posts in now and still failed to actually address the original message or the many replies to it asking for clarification. Instead we get an angry, defensive post consisting of (weird) insults (seriously, mayonnaise-xir?) and the good old "I'm not (blank), I love the (blank)" responses. All that's missing is the classic "I can't be (blank), my friend is (blank)".

Oh man, the patronizing in this thread is killing me.

Go on everyone, continue pretending that you're doing some kind of justice. It's entertaining me.

It's like everyone is just trying to satisfy some need of theirs to be condescending and snobbish. Like a pack of wolves leaping on prey. That sums up 90% of the people on this forum. I've never seen anything like it anywhere else on the internet.

You'll find that's perfectly fine with me ;)
