With all respect, I think you have it out of order. I distinctly remember remember the big freeway fight to be before the Apple store, and that's also the scene where the shield was left on the highway, because the three of them were placed in a van.

Due to the ongoing "issues" between Amazon and Disney, they don't list any Disney titles for pre-order. It'll be available there once the release date arrives.

    I watched it last night.

    The causality is:

Fight at SHIELD > Hospital > Apple Store > New Jersey SHIELD base > HYDRA reveal and attack > Hanging out at Falcons > Highway/Freeway attack > Captured by HYDRA > Hill rescues the trio.

Hill or someone else from SHIELD picked up the shield and left it in the back of the van and Cap took it with him when they went to the super secret unSHIELD hideout.

Yeah, the fight on US 50 couldn't have happened before the Apple store because it ended with them surrounded at gunpoint and put in the vans (to be rescued by Maria Hill). The Apple scene was about using the flashdrive, so they could go to New Jersey, which happened before all that.

I'm trying to remember where Cap got the car. Was it his car? If it was, maybe he just left his shield in the car. I'm not exactly sure where he'd find a mall like that inside the District anyway so he may have driven there.

Widow asked him where he learned to steal a car and he answered "Nazi Germany." We didn't see the theft.

Let's face it, Cap's shield is like Indy's hat...however improbable, he's never gonna lose it...if he manages to get temporarily parted from it, it'll just come rolling along eventually.

Did the movie show him recovering his shield after dropping it off the helicarrier?

Because of a wonderous thing called the World Wide Web. It's amazing what you can find and find out on it, maybe you've heard of it?

    No it didn't.

^^^I thought when he was washed up on the shore his shield was nearby? Implying that perhaps Bucky had recovered it for him?

In any event, is it really hard to believe that perhaps he has more than one shield laying around?

Yes, the shield is made of Vibranium one of the rarest metals on earth it's very unlikely he's got a spare somewhere.

And yet when they were deciding on a design in the first film, Stark had several mock up's made up, all using Vibranium.

Stark said nothing abou the other shields being made of vibranium only the one that Steve picked up off the bottom shelf.

^Howard also said in that scene that the shield was "pretty much all we have".

I figured you'd mention this, and it's a fair claim. But it does seems awfully convenient that Rogers picks up the one shield that is made of vibranium

Still, the fact that that one was a prototype (seemingly distinguishing it from the others) is pretty telling. Is it convenient? Probably. It's also pretty convenient that Dr. Erskine heard Steve Rogers's conversation with Bucky that led him to become Captain America in the first place. Movies have lots of convenient moments.

You're probably right. I haven't seen the film recently enough to argue my point any further.

Well, how much can we trusr Stark that that shield really represented "pretty much all they [have]." This was a proto-SHIELD group, so he may have been lying. It's also possible in the 70-some years between CA and CA2 more Vibranium was recovered/manufactured.

Sure, but we have no reason to believe that or even suggest that. Could he be lying and could they have gotten more? Sure, of course. Does it dramatically increase the very low odds that Captain America had extra versions of his shield? No.

I'd say it's a push on plausibility, but I believe the idea in the comics is that Cap's shield is one-of-a-kind and even more than that an alloy that's not been able to be reproduced.

Was it not adamantium (like Wolverine's claws) in the comics? I thought they invented vibranium for the MCU because the X-Men films owned the rights to adamantium.
