Jayson was like a weirder Guy Gardner. I miss the way Shatmandu used to sign off on all his posts. At least I think it was him. Andrew, Unsure, bit still missing those posts.
Yep, sadly . And I'm not a fan of a lot of it... (Twitter, Facebook, etc... -- it's too of the moment, too fast). Bulletin boards and forums let people discuss issues. The others, not so much .
Wow, y'all are making me feel like a newbie! This is the only "great moment" mentioned that I recognize: My personal -- and serious -- great moment here is how amazing folks were when I was diagnosed with cancer in 2011, even though I was relatively new and had never posted much. Several threads with hundreds of posts -- some serious, some silly, all supportive! As for Facebook, it's what you make of it. I'm in two groups that have as detailed, extended conversations as any here.
Your profile says you joined in 2010. You ARE a newbie! Most of us have been here for at least a decade. I just hit year #14 myself.
I joined this message board shortly after my family got its first computer with a dial-up modem. We were using AOL, for Pete's sake!
I've been here 13 years as a member, plus 1 as a lurker...so I remember most of this stuff. Trek Tonight! Bar threads, chair throwing threads, food fights and pillow fights in the Commie's Lounge. The Reed/Tucker fan wars in the Enterprise forum (how I got started here, actually!). Chasegate. Emh will never live that one down. Mods accidentally warning themselves on the old board (I did it more than once when I was a mod!). The magic thread 5:31 p.m.! Does anyone still have that archived? I miss Red Ranger, Nibbles, and Mallory. T'Bonz's Fireside Chats. Good times.
