Have you tried getting a water fountain? Mine started drinking so much more with a fountain than he did with a bowl.
He has gingivitis and I think some of his teeth might be sensitive to even room temperature water. I run the full syringe under hot water so it warms up & he seems to like it warmer rather than cooler. I'm not sure at 9 years old I can even change his behavior re: getting a fountain or even some kind of water warmer thing. PS: I do brush his teeth as well. Have done for years.
I'm actually not sure which came first with Banshee, the UTI or the dehydration. Lack of fluids can certainly help bring on a UTI, but if she's in pain when peeing, I can certainly see her not wanting to drink anything. Now that I think about it, I think the UTI may have come first. Yesterday morning before I took her to the vet, she came over to the water dish like she was going to drink, but just stood there. It looked like she wanted to drink, but couldn't. May look into the water fountain anyway. Sneezy certainly loves drinking from the tap.
Yep. My cat doesn't touch her water bowl, but she jumps on the counter anytime I go near the bathroom and waits for me to turn on the faucet.
Both of my cats are fascinated by running water. Doing dishes, washing my hands, filling the washing machine, even flushing the toilet. They look at it like it's magic.
these three cats I take images of for their own to make their catblog's with.. the first cat butt image has the blog.. ari the cat. http://arithecat.blogspot.com/ Next is Cinnamon http://cinnamon-ginny.blogspot.com/ finally is the black cat Morgaine http://morgaine-ginny.blogspot.com/ Ginny is the cats owner.. and Ginny decides what images go where..
Banshee update! The vet says she looks really good, and her bloodwork is much improved (although there's a way to go there). They've put her on a "low residue" diet so she won't poop as much, and of course there are still antibiotics to go through. But she gets to come home today!
I want more cat! -great images Alienesse. Yesterday I needed something from one of my boxes... I turned my back for 3-5 seconds and it was occupied: And again today, when I came home after having spent 'the light hours' at Ikea, the box was occupied. What to do but mark it:
