I think it would be easier to answer a thread about what I would like to see.

    For what I wouldn't:

    1. An adaptation of a previous character/story: I don't think Into Darkness was a rip-off of Wrath of Khan (in fact I think it borrows a lot from The Undiscovered Country) and I liked the story. I do however, want to see something entirely different next time and hope that the writers come up with something.
    2. Kirk in bed with women/women in underwear scenes: Personally, this isn't appealing and I hope they get rid of it.

Otherwise, I can't wait to see the next frontier they'll tackle!

Kirk vs the borg would be okay as long as they don't rip off First Contact and add time travel.

I just want a sci-fi story about exploring strange new worlds without callbacks to plots and characters from past movies and shows. ENOUGH.

With a franchise as big as this callbacks are inevitable. Besides they're fun and they're practically treats for the fans. They don't hinder the movie in any way.

The topic of the thread IS "What you DON'T want to see in Star Trek 3" and that's what I don't want to see. Simple enough.

I understand. But I'm telling you my opinion of your opinion. Thus creating a (hopefully) intelligent discourse on the subject at hand.

No major story elements from past series.

    I WANT AN ORIGINAL STORY!!!

Also, no major conclusion to Spock/Uhura relationship, but don't split them up, either.

No time travel, enough of that in the first movie.

The will definitely be time travel in the next movie. They'll be moving into the future - one minute at a time:cool:

I don't see value in offering an opinion on someone else's personal taste. That's like expressing an opinion on someone's disinterest in the flavor of Cocoa Puffs.

    * No destruction or near destruction of the Enterprise

    * No reappearance of the Vengeance or a sister ship. I like the Vengeance, but it's like junk food: too much gives you a stomach ache.

    * No more Kirk learning/growing . We get it, he's young and hot headed and needs to grow into his command. We've done that story, give us a new one

    * No Klingons or Romulans

    * No more Federation / Earth level threats. Let's get down to a more personal, smaller scale, story.

^I know, eh? This is why I'm glad the fans aren't deciding what goes on in Star Trek.

Only if the people who wanted them before are exactly the same people who now don't want them. The statistical margin of error for a forum of constantly-shifting population is more than large enough to soak up the difference, otherwise.

M', didn't want the Borg before and still don't

I've been over the Borg since First Contact. We need some new enemies, competent enemies.

Kirk got his 5 year mission at the end of STII, lets run with that. Hell the Talosians or the Tholians could be interesting on the big screen if done right.

I'll cop to it, I bought into that prior Borg buzz but have since changed my mind. Same for my statement above on this thread. If I have a beatdown coming for changing my mind then so be it. My revised opinion:

I'd rather they keep with TOS themes and leave TNG themes for a possible reboot/lead-in to that era. And unless you are APTB with say in the matter one way or another then please don't say it'll never happen, you don't know that for sure.

The Doomsday Machine is better choice IMO than going straight to the Borg/Q; it's an OS concept which could be done on a scale that could leave us all breathless at the scope of it and it fits the bill for not being a traditional villain but is a "force of nature" type antagonist Orci spoke of wanting to do.

All that said, of course I'll always prefer something original to a rehash.

I'm still in the camp that says reimagined big budget Borg would be all kinds of awesome. Ditch the Uncle Fester make up and rubber costumes, and use CG to remove body parts and replace with machinery. The only problem is not making them too grotesque and cranking up the age rating.

 That's the same kind of imaginary that drew me into that way of thinking in the first place. Agreed, it would be ten kinds of cool but can we not keep something sacred. Save the Borg and it's inherently awesome possibility's for the proper time and place.

Doing a Borg story with the OS crew would send shock-waves through fandom like we've never seen before as it would send a message - TNG is very unlikely to happen, and though I was an OS fan first that doesn't mean I wouldn't want to see them have a shot at the big time eventually.

The only way I could be interested in another Borg story is ditch the Borg Queen and take them back to just being a massive hive mind and near force of nature. have 'em just rolling through and over races and assimilating for no other reason that it being instinct. Intergalactic locusts as it were.

And you know, you just know, they'd assimilate Uhura and make her the Borg Queen.

I don't want an old fashioned Star Trek movie. It would absolutely not succeed today.

Oh god, and just as she's about to destroy the Earth, Spock has to stab her with his Adamantium claws... :rommie:
