And he will be accompanied by Jim Morrison and Elvis Presley.

I also immediately thought of Piven. I'm not sure how I'd feel about an American Doctor, but were it in the cards, Piven would be in my top ten for the role.

I still like the idea of Ben Daniels.

Although my top choices remain Idris Elba and Damien Molony.

Chiwetel Ejiofor is still my favorite for it, but an "unknown" is always an exciting option. No preconceptions, nothing to distract the audience from seeing whoever it is as The Doctor and just The Doctor.

    You mean like McCoy :)

I looked at that list and wondered if we couldn't discount every last one of them given the BBC have published it. I remember the list they put out before Tennant got the job, and I don't recall him being on the list.

Anyone else notice that Paterson Joseph's name hasn't been mentioned once this time around? ;)

The BBC isn't a monolith: chances are that someone on the entertainment desk of the BBC of the BBC news website might have said hello to Moffat at a launch party, but they've probably got no more inside info than the third person along in your next supermarket queue.

my question is why is Billie Piper on the list. It is extremely unlikely they will put a former companion as the doctor. No clue on all the others but it sounds more like a fan put it together then a list that Moffet would put together. Though Moffet is a fan but I think he would put away the fan hat when looking for the next doctor.

I'm pretty certain the next doctor is going to be a woman. Looking at the guide on Directv, there's a show on tomorrow called Doctor Who: The Companions. The description says, "Reflecting on the the Doctor's companions as the newest begins her journey."

    Hmmmm......

More likely that "Her" is Clara. As in the newest companion. I'm fairly certain it aired back in March originally.

Not really. You're just looking too hard for a meaning that isn't there.

I saw the Misha Collins thing. Never heard of the guy and apparently he's prone to Twitter jokes. Plus he's not British, which would cause a massive Anglo-aneurysm on Sunday if it's him.

"How dare they cast a Yank ZOMG the world is gonna end I wanna kill myself they've ruined an iconic British show by pandering to the Americans enough already UGGHHHHHH I am so done BBRZZZZWWWPPsssh....! *die*"

And the live audience would boo.

    Nah. It's not him.

It's something along the lines of "I have a big announcement this weekend and it involves the UK and phone booths."

Doctor Who: The Companions was originally broadcast in March, as Clara was starting out... that's what "Reflecting on the Doctor's companions as the newest begins her journey" refers to...
