I admit I'd rather see them spend some time on pre-existing TOS and TMP aliens rather than spamming new ones. I'm fine if they want to re-image them. Although the Caitians were a bit unimaginative and crap, I guess I can't have my cake and eat it. Totally down with more Andorians.

Meh. I got my fill of Andorians and Tellarites in Enterprise. I'd definitely like to see more of Science Officer 0718 in the next movie though.

Is he the cyborg? I've never really understood Trek's aversion to cyborgs (Picard notwithstanding) but I get a bit nervous about them moving away from it. Mind you we had how many hundreds of intelligent androids in TOS and yet they still tried to sell Data as amazing and unique.

I definitely didn't have my fill of Andorians. Would have loved to see Shran as a member of the crew in season 5.

You can never have enough Andorians ;)

I've had my fill of humans in ST. With modern makeup and SFX, the reboot really missed out on a chance to show us a Starfleet that demographically represented the Federation. 150+ member worlds, and still over 80% human.

I hope to see some improper aliens: Smooth head Klingons and Ridged Trills.

    Mentioned: Cardassians, Andorians, Gorn

That's enough "proper" races for me.

I caught the others, but when did they mention Andorians in ST09 or STID?

^McCoy talks to Kirk about "a case of Andorian shingles" in the shuttle at the Riverside shipyard, when they take off for the Academy.

Yep, plus the references to TMP's K'Normians in STiD, although I've never identified an actual K'Normian in TMP footage, even though they made it as a pair of tie-in Citadel UK metal miniatures in 1980, and a single pic in "Star Trek: The Magazine".

JJ Abrams has this annoying habit of tweaking the appearance of major Trek aliens. When I first saw the Romulans in Trek 09 I kept asking myself 'they're Romulans?'. Then in STID they did the same thing with the Klingons and only now did I realise what they had done; they removed both species hair.

I shudder to think what the Cardassians will look like if they are included in a new Trek movie...

^^In the case of the Klingons, presumably it was only the commander that Uhura was talking to that was bald. Other Klingons can be seen to have hair under their helmets.

    Mentally? . . . that's debatable.
I wouldn't mind seeing an Andorian or two but as long as we don't see Alf at the helm . . . I'm cool with all the various races.

We saw Romulans with hair in Old Spock's mind-meld flashforward. It was only Nero's crew that were bald. The "change" they made was removing the forehead ridges added to them in TNG.
The Klingons looked the same as ever, just with more detail and far better costuming to me. The only reason the Klingon we saw was bald was a problem with the hairpiece coming off with the helmet, so they made the leader bald. The others had hair. And if bald Klingons are somehow wrong, General Chang would like a word with you :)
Is the correct look of the Cardassians how they looked in TNG's "The Wounded" or in DS9? Or the Bajorans the way Ro or Kira's ridges looked? Or is the correct look of the Trill from "The Host" or DS9? Do Andorian antennae come from the rear of the head like in TOS or the front like ENT?

Odd complaint considering that the Klingons appearance has been tweaked every time they've been in a film. Even in TOS there was variation in the make up.

The Romulans were also tweaked when they showed up in TNG. A tweak that was ignored by the films released at the same time.

I don't understand why people wouldn't want the look of aliens to evolve. With that attitude, the Klingons would still be wearing blackface and Fu manchu mustaches.

And I would be cool with that. You know, purity of Trek and Gene's vision, all that stuff.
