Better if they had allowed main cast to die?

Death is but a minor inconvenience in Star Trek... unless you're a guest character, then you're screwed.

But Lindsey Ballard wasn't even a guest character and she came back!

    She sure was lucky.

What episode is the original poster on now? There's always "Mortal Coil" where you get a main cast death (trying not to give spoilers).

But again the death ain't permanent.

Technically Harry Kim "dies" in "Emanations" too.

    Again, not permanent though!

I read that as "not permanent enough!"

Poor Harry. Got screwed with that one. I like the scenes where Tom lists out all of the horrible relationships/crushes Harry had and I believe he says "a dead girl" meaning Lindsey in one of scenes.

    HAHA.

No, I don't like death. Fictional characters are my friends. I like when they magically come back.

Harry is one of those fellows who got so used to the crush on the unattainable when younger that he never figured out you avoid that, you don't cultivate it.

I was searching for the Tom line where he lists out all of Harry's ridiculous crushes, but found this instead and it made me spit out my tea.

PARIS: Neelix. Good to have you back.
NEELIX: it's good to be back, Lieutenant. Alixia? Alixia, it's me, Neelix. Over here! Captain! My sister, she was just standing here talking to you.
JANEWAY: The dead girl, oh yes, very charming. I can see the family resemblance.
    NEELIX: Alixia!
    SEVEN: You will be assimilated.
NEELIX: No time for that now. Maybe later.
    KIM: Potent stuff!

Well, it helps if the HERO(INE), if they have to die, that they die heroically.

That would have made me happy.

After Worf Who Ate Two Star Trek Shows joined the cast, I stopped liking DS9. And as I said - Tasha was my favorite TNG character.

Funny how I'm usually bored stiff by DS9 and TNG fanfic, yet enjoy TOS and Voyager fanfic. Guess not everyone shares your views, hmm?

But they did kill a main cast member off... several times. Harry died at least twice on his own, and a few more times whenever Janeway decided to blow the ship up or ram it into another ship.

I must know more of this.

I'm not that keen on Worf myself, stick up his butt. Which I guess was the point.

Tasha.. I'm afraid I can't even dig up enough personality in my (admittedly rusty) TNG memories. I'm afraid all I associate her with is the big yellow sex toy and her absolutely bizarre return as a romulan.

"No support" is part of the premise. That means once something is broken, it's broken for good. No repairs or replacements.

DS9 was a war story, yet the station was always totally repaired and the Defiant always in 100% good shape despite constant battles.

Might as well ask why TOS, TNG and DS9 barely killed anyone.

The thing is, Worf went from a minor character to somebody who had a stake in the whole damn Klingon government! There was all this ongoing angst about honor, honor, honor... and did I forget to mention HONOR?

Okay, we get it. Klingons (the good ones, anyway) value honor. And Worf doesn't cut any slack for anybody who might have a different point of view, including the mother of his own child. Somehow that is honorable.

And then Picard and even DATA get roped into all this Klingon shit.

Meanwhile, TPTB think TOS movie #6 can't make it on its own merits without bringing in MICHAEL DORN as... wait for it... WORF! (sure, a different one, but it's still A Worf).

And then DS9 acquires this Klingon jerk, whose storylines end up including Jadzia (another character I hated from the get-go) and then we not only have Worf and Jadzia separately, but then Worf and Jadzia, the Super-duper Trill-Klingon Warrior!!!!

Damn, I was glad when they killed her off.

And every new season of Voyager, I was scared that they'd find a way to stick Michael Dorn into THAT series, too.

    Whut? :wtf:

I agree with you about the honour, it is very tedious. We get it, stop pounding your chests.

Data. She slept with Data, programmed in multiple techniques just like one of those 500 dollar vibrators you can buy. And his batteries never run out.

I didn't want Jadzia to die! But yeah I was kind of WTF when they brought Michael Dorn to DS9 for a "temporary assignment" and then he just never left. I don't think they could have brought him in as a replacement for Kes on VOY cause the two shows were on the air at the same time.

He annoyed me on DS9 only initially, but I got used to him. Then they brought in a crapload of more Klingons for recurring characters.

I like that desc of him that Timewalker said "Worf That Ate Two Star Trek Shows". LOL.

Which proves that even in the 24th century, whenever a new piece of technology is introduced the first question is going to be if you can have sex with it. ;)

Yes but for her it was seducing his humanity that she got off on, she already had enough tech to have sex with to keep her occupied forever
