I've already said I'd like to see the Klingons and Federation finally have the full-scale war we saw in "Yesterday's Enterprise" and which, apparently, a ****-ton of Admirals would really like to see happen.

I'd also like to see a larger role for Uhura. Part of what I liked about the reboot was we were capable of moving past the original stereotypes of the 1960s but, honestly, it's become even more the Spock/Kirk show than before and that's something I'd like to avoid.

Karl Urban I'd also like to see get a somewhat meatier part than just being the occasional source of snark to the main duo. He really went downhill to focus on the Kirk and Spock relationship.

As much as I'd like to see a moral dilemma-focused movie, I am not so necessarily focused on this I wouldn't want to continue the whizz bang pew-pew action either. Star Trek had been on life-support for a decade and seeing it garner good public will (even as brainless action) isn't a bad thing IMHO.

That and, again, I like the Big Epic StuffTM happening onscreen.

Some fall out from this movie - any or all of deteriorating relationships with the Klingons, re-appearance of the magic blood and some consideration given to the (probable) use of it without Khan's permission, more info on how they decided to refreeze Khan with (probably) no trial, and what the plan on doing with 72 frozen augments.

I'd be pleasantly surprised if any of those issues appeared, other than troubles with Klingons.

Other than that more development of all the secondary characters other than Scotty - Bones and Uhura but also Chekov, Sulu and Carol Marcus. Since we're talking wish fulfillment, I'd like to come up with a good serves-the-character reason for anyone appearing in their underwear ;).

Center the action on a strange new world instead of Earth, with Big Epic Stuff on that world. :D

If they were smart, they'd get those pods off Earth. I hear there's a planet in the Ceti Alpha system which would do nicely...

I want to see the filmmakers do whatever they wish, with no regard for the "fans", unless it is what they want to do anyway (of course, I want that from every form of artistic production). I do NOT want to see them cater to any particular agenda in order to please the self-appointed guardians of The Committee for the Way Things Ought to Be (patent pending). Any agenda should be entirely of their own choosing.

    Specific developments?

A story revolving around some sort of mystery--finding the remnants of a lost colony where it shouldn't be; encountering previously unknown technology, which attracts the attention of the Klingons generates some action/conflict but also forces them to work together to solve the mystery (maybe some sort of cliffhanger for a fourth film?); or maybe have a story inspired by something that's mentioned as a throwaway line in a TOS episode (have that be the wink/nod) and then develop the "adventure between the episodes" without having to be slavishly faithful to the prior or subsequent episodes in any way.

As for what to do with the characters--Kirk and Spock should remain in centre stage (they are by far the most important and interesting characters anyway) and there should be no time devoted to others at Kirk or Spock's expense (Want more McCoy, or any one else, this time out? Cut down on someone else--just not Kirk or Spock).

Otherwise, as I've thoroughly enjoyed Bad Robot Trek so far, I feel quite confident to let them handle things for as long as they want to.

I would love to see a fleet-sized starship battle take place (whether it be against Klingons or not). A massive armada of various federation ships, going up against... [insert adversarial fleet here]

    or

I'd love to see the USS Vengeance somehow return in the next movie and go on an all-out offensive against the Klingon homeworld (lets' see what's she actually capable of, as a weapons platform...]

Guilty pleasures of mine, I'd love to see happen...

They should put them on the sixth planet, this time.

I would love to see the Enterprise investigate a duplicate Earth (not Miri's world, but same idea), and have a story revolve around the implications of it (how many others are there, which Earth is the real original version, are there duplicates of the Vulcan or Klingon homeworld, how did all this happen).

They find the duplicate is suffused with a benign residual energy that Carol Marcus takes an interest in as something that can be dissected and "reverse engineered" for the purpose of pioneering and revolutionizing advanced terraforming technology.

    A couple ideas:

Kirk and Marcus get together and maintain a stable, monogamous relationship while serving aboard the Enterprise. No more "Kirk's always banging green-skinned, alien space babes on every planet", which is a bit of ascended fanon that needs to go away.

A faction of Vulcans develops on New Vulcan who wish to reunite with the Romulans, potentially jeopardizing the membership of one of the Federation's founding members. Despite the mismatch in ideologies, this group sees it as imperative for the sake of survival that the two races combine their gene pool. What's more, Prime Spock is sympathetic to this faction, seeing this as a second chance to complete the reunification that he failed to achieve in the Prime universe. NuSpock takes the opposite position, believing the Romulans as untrustworthy as Nero. The two of them end up as antagonists to one another, in a sincere, non-mustache-twirling manner, and in the process explore whether the survival of a race is worth assimilation or if the moral imperatives of one's culture trump pragmatism. In the end they find a peaceful solution (it is Spock squared, after all) and the Romulan Empire's relationship with the Federation thaws similar to the Federation and Klingons in Prime Trek.

This would work a lot better in a book or, maybe, a TV series. I have difficulty imagining all these themes being effectively explored in 2-2.5 hours.

Use the new Five Year Mission to actually explore strange new worlds!
Too much of NuTrek (even the TOS/TNG movies) takes place on Earth.

Discovering that Dyson sphere or a ringworld. Plenty of cross-over material.

    - The fall of Section 31, with the accompanying 'purge' of all those within Starfleet who sympathize with them. Thanks to Abrams, this can happen in this timeline much earlier than in the prime one.

    - A full-out balls-to-the-wall Mirror Universe actioner. Not one that's a fairytale being told by a regular universe character, like in the "Mirrored" storyline in the comics. I mean a *real* Abrams-MU.

Which I doubt we'll ever see in a movie format. To be effective, a "mirror universe" story needs an established weekly "regular universe" to which it presents a contrasting picture (in characterization or atmosphere or both.)

A sequel to Into Darkness. Well, maybe not a direct sequel, but there was to much happening for there not to be any fall-out.
Angry Klingons, rogue Starfleet agents in the form of Section 31, Khan's still out there...

If the next movie pretends it never happened, that would kinda suck for me.

I doubt the next movie is going to be about Klingon war. IDW is going to be covering that beginning in issue 25 of the Ongoing comic series.
