What's with all the sideburn diversity these days?

Used to be everybody had the standard starfleet sideburns, and now you have Pike practically looking like Jerry Reed in Smokey and the Bandit, Kirk with square ones, and holdouts like Spock and Khan rocking the original for the most part. Makes me think that Starfleet is a little softer in the new timeline.

I dunno, Kirk had what looked like typical "Trek" slanted sideburns. They just werent as 70's as Pikes.

I noticed the sideburns during the scene at the bar with Kirk... Did Pike have those sideburns in ST09?

If I were in charge, all the men would have pointy sideburns, and all the ladies would have Janice-Rand-Basket-Weave hair.

And speaking of hair who noticed that McCoy had a terrible dorky haircut in this one?

It was like a bowl cut! And the sides were kind of shaved.. it made him look older, much less handsome and like a dork.

It's true though. He doesn't look less handsome because of looking older (which is a plus) but because of his horrible haircut.

By "less handsome" you mean "more handsome," right? I'm sorry, anything less than "ZOMC, he's gorgeous" doesn't work for this man. :adore:

    Now I'm having thoughts.
    (thank you)

Really? I guess I didn't notice it that much, although I did notice the more military costuming, in which Karl Urban looks so damn good.

    Now I'm having more thoughts.

I approve very much of those grey military uniforms, they look sharp and delicious in them. It's just not a hair cut I'm partial to on anyone and I think it did him no favours. As opposed to you J.Allen who of course would do him plenty of favours.

I'm not fighting you for him, NuSpock is my #1 Trek male.

(Soval will get over it eventually..)

And while I agree with you a tiny bit I wouldn't kick him out of bed. ;)

(As a newbie I hope that comments not too saucy)

I would have amazing space sex with McCoy, right now, on the floor, in full view of an audience, and it wouldn't phase me one iota.

Trust me, you're not being too saucy. :ouch:

Starfleet gives their newest ship to a cadet and you think the sideburns are chief indication of a softer Starfleet?
