Rage? Well he's a character who can only be improved on...right?

He is a fairly generic, unpopular character. Prime for adaptation because no one will complain about the changes they make. His powers are low-key enough to work on a TV budget too.

Then again, so are Luke Cage's, for what it's worth.

It's scheduled for Tuesdays at 8.00pm. Once Upon a Time in Wonderland drew the short straw for Thursdays at 8.00pm.

It was supposed to be a limited run series anyways. Tuesdays at 8pm isn't the best slot either.

So assuming, and that usually means trouble, the hunch that Rage is involved could we begin speculating what other characters might appear? Rage is pretty far down a list of priorities so far that to call him a D-lister might be putting it nicely.

Would Machine Man be an easy character to use? Androids have been on TV famously and easily done since, if nothing else, Data. He has been running around as a SHIELD Agent since the Registration Act. Currently seen in Red She Hulk monthly.

I'm not enthralled by Agent Ward's portrayer, and there's not enough of Fitz & Simmons to judge them, but the rest looks good.

Alphas with a budget and better production values, at least from the looks of it... I'll give it a look-see.

Right. So using Rage gives them a generic Luke Cage to do whatever they want with him, without the baggage of having to do him justice.

The latest theory I've heard is that he's Patriot from the Young Avengers, though I think that comes from taking his "I should carry a shield?" line too literally.

Personally, I'm not convinced he's going to be a comics character at all. I mean, nobody else on the show is.

Hmm, have to admit the whole "agents investigating mysterious, superpowered freaks" premise is kinda making it feel like just a generic rehash of Alphas, Warehouse 13, and Fringe.

Although I'm sure with enough of Whedon's trademark wit and humor in there it could still be pretty fun.

It is the opposite of 'Generic'. It is built off an existing and well known brand.

It has almost the whole Marvel universe to play with, even a lot of the stuff they can't use in movies.

^ That's the part that is exciting. Even though this will be self-contained from the MCU...there is still a whole entire rest of the Marvel Universe they can explore and use if they so wish. Start developing lesser known characters, etc. Maybe even incorporate elements like "AKA Jessica Jones" or even their proposed "Cloak and Dagger" series. This just opens up the Marvel Universe a bit more. I'm really excited for this.

What makes it different from something like Alphas or Fringe is that they're not afraid to use the word "superhero." It will be nice if this show draws as heavily on Marvel lore as Arrow or later-seasons Smallville have drawn on DC lore. Hopefully we'll get some significant supervillains too.

I was very pleased with that 2:30 trailer for the show.

The fact that, from that promo, it sounds like an X-Files, Millennium, Fringe, W13 or Alphas is proof enough that this concept works. It's just got an already established universe of material from which to draw. Things will be new to most but the easter eggs for the faithful will be fun to find.

I'm rooting for Moon Knight, Mockingbird, Justice, Machine Man, Jessica Jones, Misty Knight to name a few that should the show go a few seasons could be seen in some story manner. A few Halloween themed episodes with say Jack Russell the Werwolf by Night, N'Kantu the Living Mummy or Manphibian anyone? Do I dare think Man-Thing?

Isn't there an rights issue thing with Man-Thing? I'm not sure that Marvel Studios owns him.
