The bun was not sexy. if they hadn't had the bun, twice the audience would have wanted to sleep with Janeway, ditto for Jennifers mushroom wig.

I liked the mushroom wig! No, I really didn't mind Kes's hair though. She looked fine with the longer hair too during her final couple of eppys. I'm not a big Kes fan though anyway, but not because of her looks.

Meh...I don't have an issue with Janeway's bun. It was nice to see her let it down though. To be honest, as a woman, if I was doing a job that was extremely demanding physically or just doing anything besides sitting at my desk being a drone, I would have a bun too.

Actually I am wearing my hair up in a bun right now. But mine sits right on top of my head in the center. :D

Like most people though, I like her later-seasons look better though.

I never got why Janeway's varying hair styles were that big of a deal. I can't think of any woman I know that's worn her hair exactly the same for a period of seven years. Changing styles every six months or so isn't -that- indulgent.

It wasn't that she kept changing it, it was that her first few hair styles looked awful!

She had lots of buns and a couple bobs. As if all other (straight) men too didn't think that that really amounted to two hair cuts. A bun and a bob. It's not that I didn't like the bun, it's that when the bob showed up, I was floored by the beautiful woman they had been hiding. It also made her look 10 years younger than she did 4 years earlier. Ditto with Kes, after she got rid of the wig, near the end... "WHO IS THAT!!!??? OHMY! OH MY! WHO IS THAT?"

Voyager went wrong when they decided not to commit to their exciting premise.

I was excited after Caretaker, but then they decided to throw away the survival aspect and the tension between the crew and make it TNG lite.

I thought the bun was damn sexy the first time I watched Voyager. I haven't been able to figure out what I was thinking since then though

Kes was awful in the mushroom wig and awful in the long hair which made her look like a cocker spaniel.

I thought the bun made her look older and stronger. You don't want a sexy captain. You want a tough old lady.

After she got that bob, she looked like a suburban housewife. They should have styled it more, given it some kind of body... like FutureJaneway's hair.

While we're on the subject: B'Elanna's hair wavy (like in Caretaker) was much better looking than when it was straightened out. And Chakotay is 1,000 times sexier with his hair brushed forward.

    I've never noticed Chak's hair!

And now it is time to post this again, in case someone has not seen it:

Neelix should have secretly been Caretaker all along.

Or he should have been useful period.

He found Leeola roots and explained why some of the natives were restless after they were already proved restless who Neelix should have known well enough to steer around in the first place.

He was a better adviser than Troi. He had some actual facts.

If Troi was a better telepath, even a better empath, she would have been able to kill opposing Captains through their ships shields, with her brain, which would have earned her that position in the jump seat.

Failing at murder, she could as easily broadcast hysteria, depression or ecstasy to incapacitate entire crews in conflict with Enterprise.

Although anyone who knew what she was, allies, local enemies, some one who read the newspaper, they should have demanded that Troi be removed from the bridge before they would begin any conversation with Picard.

That might not work so well as they wouldn't be able to tell if hidden Troi was watching the proceedings from her quarters and murmuring into Picard's earpiece.

The original premise was just "Lost in Space", though.

The survival stuff partially didn't make sense (Honestly, WHY can't they make new torpedoes?!) and the tensions between the crews was never going to last more than 2 seasons or so. Especially once DS9 killed off the rest of the Maquis.

    She needs an earwig?

I repeat: What a shit telepath.

Although anyone capable of inventing a mindprobe, or a mindsifter, could just as easily widget that technology into their ships shield configuration.

In the pilot, the entire crew was raped by Caretaker.

Literally sexually raped to make babies.

The problem is that no one got therapy after that, which is why they're all broken inside.

^^^Literally speaking, it was only Torres and Kim who were engaged in reproductive activities with the Caretaker.

Functionally Torres was just a woman of color, so that was (sadly)appropriate to the character as treated in most drama today. But this may explain why Kim is so detested?

    We saw everyone in stirrups.

The machinery of the array prepped everyone for a jolly good raping.

Are you suggesting that Caretaker decided that after kicking the tires and checking their teeth, that he gauged that everyone but Kim and Torress was unrapable?

Not a credential most of us want a lamented certificate for.

Obviously he shagged all 142 of of them, and only twice sperm came out rather than a puff of dust.
