Yeah, the island is awesome. I also seriously like the cupboards with the arched glass inserts. I COVET those!

Ridicule my weak excuse with logic?

    Chemistry teachers... :sigh:

On the other hand, he gets to hang out with you. Battling vicious fungi-plant monsters while sileighty fatigued is a small price to pay.

I'm sure you will be allowed back for visits someday. We can be a pretty forgiving lot. :)

One of the few things I got done today: I baked a strawberry cake with vanilla icing, and Lindt chocolate carrots for a little decoration.
Let's all pretend it's not leaning to one side. I like to think of it as having a "relaxed posture."

Now I want cake. And at 1:30 in the morning that's never good.

I'm not a Golden Girl, dammit!

I'm a huge graffiti fan so I'd love that.

    Easter cake:

Not my idea, found the how-to at a cake blog. Had fun splattering cocoa "paint" on the cake and eggs!

^Awesome! I think, if I did that, more of the cocoa paint would have ended up in my mouth rather than on the cake.

It's cocoa mixed with vanilla extract. Doesn't taste good until it's blended in with the icing.

I'm currently substituting in elementary school (I taught middle school for ten years, then took some time off to write a book). The photo was taken last week at Books of Wonder, NYC's oldest, independently owned children's bookstore.

Absolutely. In middle school, I taught 7th and 8th grade Language Arts and loved it (until Bloomie ran roughshod over the Department (Board) of Education). Recently, I've been working a 5th grade leave replacement and I could definitely see myself doing that on a more permanent basis - once I get my license extended to include 5th & 6th grades. There are some definite advantages to having the class all day - even if a couple of the kids have, shall we say, an excess of personality. ;)
