I kind of get the feeling we won't get it this time but I really want the score to "Empok Nor"

Empok, A Call to Arms, Scorpion all within a few weeks. That was a great period for Chattaway.

"Unremarkable?" I couldn't disagree more. It's as good as any of Steiner's TOS work and is one of the most outstanding episode scores in all of TNG. And the scores by John Debney and Don Davis (who both did, in fact, write music for SeaQuest) are both very solid work, a nice change from the usual TNG sound. I consider that disc to be the strongest in the set, not the weakest. The Chattaway disc, on the other hand, is quite disappointing.

I guess its just me then :)

That's really what I was getting at, both Davis' and Debney's scores were great and I liked there work on seaQuest a lot. But I'd wished they further expanded on the Chattaway/McCarthy work instead of full episode scores from one-time composers. Some great cues of the top of my head from episodes like The Survivors, Family, Timescape, The Wounded I'd love to have released. Its a shame more volumes have not followed.

What Chattaway scores would you liked to have been released?

From TNG? I think they've already released the only ones I'm interested in. Beyond that, I wouldn't mind "Scorpion" from VGR, and he did some good work in ENT. But for the most part, Chattaway's Trek work was not my favorite. To be honest, I was more fond of his non-Trek work, where he didn't have to labor under Berman's "wallpaper" rules. There was this 1992 documentary called Space Age that he scored, and I quite liked his work there -- I see you can get it as an MP3 album for 10 bucks on Amazon.

I had a college professor once who liked to play New Age CDs over the lecture hall sound system before he started class, and once I recognized Chattaway's distinctive "voice" in one of them. I thought it was rather nice. And I think I did ask the professor about it afterward and he confirmed it was Chattaway. But I can't find any online info about Chattaway doing New Age music; the online discographies I can find are limited to his film and TV work.

I liked the music for Steiner's "Code of Honor" but I don't think his music would have worked for TNG overall, too old fashioned. It worked in this episode because it was a TOS-like story more than anything.
I loved Debney's "Pegasus" but I to me it sound like a McCarthy score, which is not a complaint merely an observation (for the record I love McCarthy scores).
McCarthy's disc was ok but IMHO they wasted precious space on the music box pieces, the battle sequences would have been essential here, fantastic music. Also the 8 minute sequence from "Conspiracy", while very effective in the episode and for sure interesting to hear, is not CD material, it just works on TV with the visual effects, but is not something you typically play just for the listening experience, too dissonant. In general McCarthy's season 1-3 action cues were overall totally underpresented (again I bring up "The Arsenal of Freedom", "The Hunted" and "The Survivors", which should get a full release in my opinion). Chattaway's season 4-5 cues were outstanding but after that it was missing variety. I hope for another release but they should stick to season 1-4, which becomes obvious when reading most of the other comments on other websites as well.
I'm not sure what to expect from the DS9 set but if I remember correctly the DS9 music was overall fairly different from TNG, so I think we're in for something new and interesting. Very much looking forward to it. I did enjoy McCarthy's "Emissary" to start with...

How can this release be only 11 days away and we have no information regarding its content whatsoever?

Yeah, I'm starting to worry. No art, no track listing, no anything to be seen on LLL's site.

Agreed. Particularly when you consider that on the TOS set we had box art as early as four MONTHS in advance.

But, I guess that's hardly the same thing...

LLL usually issues a press release on their next CD in the week before release, sometimes on the day of release. The TOS set was a special case in that regard. So, expect tracklist, cover, etc, next week or thereabouts.

Given La-La Land's track record, I'm not worried. We'll get the info when we get the info.

It's nice to see DS9 finally getting some love. I'll need to see the complete details before I decide if I want to purchase this. It would also be nice if it was available on iTunes.

I'm in the UK too, so hopefully it will be on eBay. That was how I got the Comic Collection CD-ROM.

I just checked on Amazon UK; they have a few La-La Land Records releases available, including the TNG one. Hopefully DS9 will appear sometime there.

Well, the Debney selections would have to be from "The Nagus" and/or "Progress" -- hopefully the former, since I remember liking that score. Bellis only did "The House of Quark," and Smith did "The Assignment," "Honor Among Thieves," and "Field of Fire." I don't recall what I thought of those scores.

All we need now is an announcement for a DS9 Blu-ray release! Or IDW making a new DS9 comic.
