I hope they learn some lessons about how not to do a movie after the failure of Terminator Salvation. It will probably be best if Arnold plays the human that that Skynet based the Terminator on. I just don't see him playing a killer cyborg anymore.

^ You mean Sergeant Candy? :D

As for this film: Meh. What could T5 and T6 possibly cover that the existing films haven't?

There's not gonna be yet more time travel, is there? If this keeps up, I am sticking to my hope that the timelines featuring Skynet, whose entire existence depends on time travel, will collapse in on themselves and the only possible outcome will be a Future Coda-like timeline in which Skynet never existed.

The terminator model was based on two people according to III.

I'm glad Arnold is doing movies again, and returning to properties like Terminator and Conan. Hope he can squeeze all of these projects out while he still can.

Pass. Terminator was a classic. T2 was great. But... there's very little left in the story that I'm interested in.

Arnie was on-board for three. That was a shit fest.

I'll wait until JAMES CAMERON is back on board. Everything else is meaningless.

Well he is thin enough to play an endoskeleton these days anyway.

One of the best edits made ever. Not canon thankfully.

The thought is to get to full circle. Get to that point where Kyle gets sent back and the struggles by the Resistance that get's Connor and his team to that point.

    I can see it now:

Arnie Terminator: John Conner, I have come back in time to protect your dog. If the T-1Billion is able to kill it, you will grow into a deep depression and not become leader of the resistance.

The tagline will be "Come with me if you want to bark."

There's really only one area left to cover. We know how things started; we know how the future war ends; but what happens after SkyNet is defeated? Surely there's more to it than sending back Hail Mary terminators.

These films literally exist to prevent that from happening. No new Terminator movies by 2019 and Cameron gets the property. So they need to move quickly and get working on that property.

You want a movie that takes place after the Big Bad is defeated? That's kinda like a movie taking place after Return of the King, isn't it?

wouldn't the movie basically be watching humans rebuild? that doesn't really scream Terminator movie to me.

    I say: reboot. Why not?

^ Terminator sequels are like Highlander ones: EVERY one is a reboot.

In both cases, there's not a sequel in the lot of them that's completely consistent with what went before.

Terminator sequels get a pass on that, though, since by definition they can't be consistent, due to their constant use of time travel. (The original film was an absolutely closed loop, but all of the sequels ruined that.)

Fine, then I hope they end up shelving everything until the deadline hits. I'll wait.

Not necessarily. So far, the Terminator movies have only considered time travel in one direction - the past. What if a Terminator was sent into the future as a contingency? If SkyNet could not prevent its destruction, it would still have a chance of resurgence after humanity had let down its guard.

Anyway, I'm not saying it's what I want; I'm just trying to think of something other than retelling the same story over again.

SkyNet isn't the Borg. It couldn't reconstitute itself from only a Terminator or two. Its mainframe had been destroyed. There's no recovery from that.

And besides, since the Resistance is qualified to operate the time machine and knew exactly where to send Kyle, it stands to reason that they would have detected it if SkyNet had sent a terminator into the *future* - they'd juat have to wait and then slag the thing as soon as it arrived.

I think Schwarzenegger is now in a position where he should really try his hand as acting. For once in his career, he should consider signing in for a role that requires more than just charisma and stilted delivery. Who knows, maybe he would enjoy it.

I love T1's perfect loop, but what is it in T2 that you think is inconsistent with T1?

I think it is exactly the fact that he only does this kinds of roles, that he will be able to successfully do T5 and 6.
